Hey guys I have a G35 coupe and I raced a E36 M3 couple days ago on the 5. It was Techno Violet I think if thats the name of the color. We raced twice on the first one I had 1.5 car lenghts on him and the second one he had 1 on me. So I think the cars were pretty much even. He had an exhaust on his car not sure what else though. Anyway my question is was it someone on this board.

You might want to describe the car in a bit further detail if possible, for instance type of rims, perhaps was it techno or daytona? interior color, did you get a look at the driver? so on so forth. Good race though, it is a drivers race a lot of the time, depends on whether you have auto or manual, same for the M3. But yeah, if i hadnt found an M3 at the right price/condition, i would have gotten a G35c, they are sweet.

Whoever it was , COME OUT! That race was TOO CLOSE!

You will be banned if you lose to a G35! ;)

I think it was a techno violet with gunmetal wheels. The driver was a white guy with the biggest hair ever. LOL My car is a 6mt and it when I dynoed it I got 20hp more than the average 6mt coupe there. It put down 257 rwhp. I only have an intake on it. It was a good race though. Always wanted to run an M3. I have a lot of respect for that car and always did. I am a huge BMW fan. I was going for a 330 but just like everyone else I had to buy the coupe cause of budget, but its a great car for the money.

I love the G35 and would take it any day over it's sister car, the 350z.

can someone tell me why Nissan (infiniti) was able to create such a sweet sounding factory exhaust were bimmers usually roll out sounding like ass?

Nice race with the M3, the cars are evenly matched and I'm glad you didn't come in here with a grudge as many usually do. :)

To bad you're in LA, I won't be able to see you on any of my roads. ;)

Nice kill!

That is pretty impressive rwhp. Maybe an intake helps those a lot. :dunno

Yeah, the G35 6MT Coupe is a nice car, I drove a few of them, and liked them much more than the 350Z... And the G35 should be a driver's race with the E36 M3, so that sounds pretty consistent...

this is what i love about this board...although the m3 lost, may of the enthusiasts know it's a driver's race and don't say BS this, BS that...like some of the riced out boards.

good run...and like everyone else here said, the g35's so much nicer than the 350z!

I think they will only be making the sedan with an AWD option. The coupe will be RWD.

That is why the G35x is teh suck.

If it was available with the 6MT, it might well be in my garage instead of the TL.

I'm guessing because BMW has a contract with HK that they can't get out of legally without some horrible financial downfall. I'm pretty sure all car manufacturers have some sort of contract.. that's how they keep costs down... my dad's premium JBL system in his highlander runs rings around our HK unit... on the other hand.. the stock HU is actually really good, despite what most people say.. go Alpine.. it's just the speakers that really suck and the amp that is way underpowered..

oh.. heheh. getting off topic..

Good race (on an unpopulated, safe situation I'm assuming ;) ) .. maybe the guy will pop up..

Bleah!

I want my factory USA Skyline Twin Turbo AWD! I don't care if it costs $50k! Gimme gimme gimme!

Yeah, the Audi is nice, too bad it only makes 250 out the factory.

I think he was asking about the exhaust sound, not the sound system.

as for the exhaust sound ive heard that sound actually is caused by the intake

What does that have to do with a race? Stock for stock the cars are very close in a street race. Any race with cars that are within a few 10ths will come down to the driver

Corra
06-28-2004, 09:29 PM
CABimmer is right...the driver is the most important ingredient...

I like the G35 Coupe good looking car/quick/sounds good as well...but to me personally the M3 is (and always will be) a more serious machine

BabyM

What does that have to do with a race?
The original poster was asking if the M3 driver is a member of Bf.c --Luftwaffe suggested a more complete description to aid in identification. Perfectly reasonable IMO...

Nice Race!

I just test drove a 2003 G35c yesterday. my first drive in one and it was amazing. the sound of the car and the looks are beautiful. even though it had 29k it still drove well (although the exterior was beat up). to me it drives much better and is a lot faster than a 330, so now I must decide on a 2004 or wait for a 2005 w/ 295 hp. decisions...

I raced a co-worker's G35 6MT a few weeks back and beat him both times. We went from a dead stop and didn't run much past 3rd gear (about 70MPH). I had at least 1CL on him in both races, and from the way I was pulling on him, it would have been worse for him had we kept going.

But I'm not stock. Intake, muffler, chip, injectors (all bolt-ons), all good for about 280BHP at the crank. And I have 113k on the clock, too. ;) If I were stock, we would have been neck and neck.

Believe it or not, I can keep up with a G35 in my '04 330 G35 is a sweet sweet car, I also like the 350Z...they both sound awesome, but there is again something about BMWs that attracts me.

I was able to unhook the little hose that connects to exhaust valve controller, and now the valve is always open...after the engine warms up, you can hear the sweet sound of 330 also you get a really thick exhaust sound around 1700-2300rpms on high gears.

I ran my 330 to a 14.0 at 97.5 mph, stock. Not sure what the G35 runs, but I bet it's about the same...

I think its because of their motor that their exhausts sound like that, even aftermarket ones have that "hollow" sound to them. I like it
