View Full Version : Mint 1999 M3 - LOW miles
All,
I'm considering selling my baby for a more practical commuter. Here's the details:
1999 BMW M3 coupe: White w/ black leather sport seats (Vader-style). 30,750 original miles. 5-speed manual transmission. 3.2 litre motor. Power windows, locks, mirrors, seats, sunroof. Factory CD changer and keyless entry/alarm system installed. Harmon/Kardon factory premium sound. Cruise control. M-Contour II wheels with excellent 225/45/17 front and 245/40/17 rear Michelin Pilot Sports. Dual front and side airbags, ABS. Full onboard computer with fuel, Code, timer, ETA functions, etc. Digital climate control. Three spoke steering wheel and original lighted M shift knob. This was a California car, and it looks like it. Never exposed to salt, winter, etc. Paint is immaculate, and interior is as new. Even the driver's seat side bolsters - a common wear point - show very little use. Black dash and headliner are mint. Modified M3's are a dime a dozen - this one is 100% original, factory, stock. Clean CARFAX history, no smoking, paintwork of any kind. One small scratch on bumper from parking lot. All VIN stickers in correct places on original body panels. Original M floor mats with rubber front mats also. If you missed your chance to buy an E36 M3 off the showroom floor, here it is. Runs and drives excellent. Dealer maintained. Three original keys w/ two alarm remotes and original owner's manual all present. This car will not disappoint. $29,000. Serious inquiries only.
Photos can be seen in the M3 folder at http://photos.yahoo.com/triplen325. I'll post some below as well.
Thanks, and contact me at triplen325@yahoo.com with any questions.

Luftwaffe1O1 06-23-2004, 12:14 AM Thats a beautiful car, the only thing you might want to consider (and im not trying to low ball you I already have an M3 :) ) is the price. Granted it has really low mileage, but 29k might be slightly high. It is up tyou ofcourse, and the car looks in pristine condition. But id say around 25k is more reasonable.

I can appreciate your view. However, if you take a browse through the recent Roundels, you'll see that the high end of the market is well upwards of $30k. My thought, as you said, is that 1) the car is extremely low mileage, 2) it's in excellent condition, 3) it's a fairly uncommon color combo (moreso than silver/anything, black/black), and 4) it's bone stock. If someone is looking for just those things, then this might be the car for them. If not, then you are correct - there are lower priced cars out there. Personally, I value totally original cars, especially Ms, when so many of them out there have some modifications - a K&N cone, clear lights, Rieger, a chip, etc.
RANT (not against you Luftwaffe) - I've had people with heavily modified cars assault me about how their cars "would make mine feel like a Yugo." To those people, I say - first of all, no, it won't. But second of all, if that's what you want to do, go for it - it's your car. I have a track car that is modified every way but sideways, and I love it. But in terms of maintaining the value and integrity of a car, my personal opinion is that stock is the way to go.
Please let's not turn this thread into everyone with any modifications trying to destroy my opinion. If you want to do that, start a new one and post the link. I'm just trying to sell my car.

ehlpitel 06-23-2004, 11:47 AM i've always felt that the roundle classifieds were always way too overpriced...good luck selling, your car looks nice!
tEckniks 06-23-2004, 05:27 PM wow $29k is way too much.. good luck
wow $29k is way too much.. good luck
Actually, if you check both cars.com and autotrader.com - presuming you take the time to sort through all the listings to find the few examples with this mileage and in this condition - I don't think you'll find my asking price to be unreasonable.
Appreciate your opinion, though...
///M3ryder NY 06-25-2004, 02:18 PM It is an absolutely gorgeous car...and the right buyer might accept to pay that price...but it definitely is over-priced. Everyone is Roundel is smoking crack, to put it nicely....
I think you'll have much better luck on autotrader, etc, where the buyers aren't quite as knowledgable and discriminating.
As far as calling modded M3s, a dime a dozen, you should consider your audience here... ;)

ya... whenever im on the can reading my new roundel, my favorite thing to do is look at the classifieds and see what crazy shit i will see this month. that price is ungodly unreasonable.... esp for a private seller. there was a dakar 99 m3 1 owner that sold on ebay for 21,5k ... obviously thats crazy but still. I just sold a 99 M3 Conv 5 spd Tit Silver on Grey (MINT doesnt describe this car) and it was CPO until next august 2005 and i sold it for 26,400 and im a dealer. It had 35,000 miles on it
Mr. Maboomba 06-26-2004, 02:24 PM Roundel is not Reality. Nearly $30,000 for a car that is five years old, common, and about to be two generations old (with the introduction of the E90) is unrealistic.
Just tryin to help you out here, buddy.

I agree with your opinion, but I'm not against modding either. I just think that for someone like me (when I was looking for an M3), a 100% stock one is the only way to go. Your car is really clean, hope you get what you want out of it.
mikeo 07-06-2004, 09:19 AM Neil,
Where exactly is the car located, still in Cali?
No, it's in NH, where I live. Feel free to e-mail me if I can provide you any more details. triplen325@comcast.net
Thanks.
mikeinsanmarcos 07-09-2004, 09:54 AM wow, that is a nice looking car! Dont let these posts get you down, when cars get to be this age, the price starts to vary pretty widely. Something is always worth exactly what someone is willing to pay! There will NEVER be new e36 M3's made and more and more are getting smashed up each day. It may take some time, but you will find someone with lots of money and wants a MINT car and will pay a premium for it.
Good luck,
Mike
Nike178 07-09-2004, 05:32 PM Wow, very nice car there. However, i do agree with everyone that the car is a bit overpriced. Even buying from a dealer i wouldnt really expect to pay that much. I think you can easily fetch 25-27k though.
jterp 07-09-2004, 05:37 PM Stock rules -- if you want $29k and can wait it out then I say do it --- You won't find a buyer here though i'm afraid.
SJTrance 07-09-2004, 06:42 PM There is nothing wrong in being proud of your car and asking what you want for it. However, remember one thing. Websites like this one are full of cars being sold at very resonable prices. Hell, it's free to sell here. Just do a search on the for sale section and see the previous prices for M3's in good condition and in bad condition. Plus, most of the members here are into modified cars, and thus, will want a car slightly modded so that they have a head start. Roundel might, in fact, be a place you might start to get rid of your beauty. It's a difficult market for selling E36 cars right now.
PS: My brother just got an E46 M3 for $35K...LSB, 6 spd, CERTIFIED CAR from a dealership with only 25K miles on it. With deals like that floating around, it's just tough to sell your car at that price on the internet. We just know too much.
Regardless, I do wish you the best of luck in selling your beauty. She will make someone very happy. I believe that it's ok to spend money on something that will make you very happy.
