The ones that i know of are Capitol raceway(410) 721-0403 its in Md bout i hour away from fairfax and northern Va. Ive been there its not a bad track.

MIR Raceway 27861 Buds Creek Rd Mechanicsville, Md 20659
(301) 884-9833

There is also another track somewhere in 20 min near Germantown Md, but i forgot the name.

If this is your first time it will be a nice rush to travel upto 100 miles perhour without looking in your rear unless you want to see the look of the guy thats losing to you. They all have stage lights that are yellow two uptop and two under neath them. Just line up so that all yellow lights are lit up. The light drops fast (like 1,2,3 green!) so be prepared and try not to look over at your competitors lights. I had the habit of looking over to my competitors light as opposed to mines and i also made the mistake of looking over to him to see if he was gonna go on teh last yellow. By last yellow i mean that the last yellow light you may or may not hit the gas. I'm not sure which track lets you go on the last yellow cus its so quick that if you have a good reaction time you can get the car moving simultaneously when the green is lit. Well best of luck and let us know of your times when you do go.

You will get faster times at MIR Adam. It's one of the fastest tracks besides Atco on the east coast. I would goto MIR. More roomy, nicer, etc. Get their RIGHT when it opens though or even before hand. You'll be able to do like 10 runs in 10 minutes. After that, 1 run every hour or so ... :stickoutt

Bring a bag of ice for your intercooler and some cold mist spray. That will help.

I think youre thinking of 75/80...it sucks, a lot.

I would agree with James, MIR is a much better track than Capitol and it's very large.

The ice would be to cool down your intercooler, cooler air is denser which means more powa. Just make sure if you do use ice, you use a towel to dry everything off. Track officials dont like to see fluid dripping off your car onto their nicely prepped surface.

As for octane, I think you can run anything that isnt leaded, unless of course you dont have cats, then you can. :)

I think that is 75/80 Raceway. I've heard that is a really crappy strip.

I understand the whole cooling aspect of miss spray and air density but where would you put an ice bag...strap it down to your intercooler? as i said i am new to this.. thanks :)

MIR is about 1 hour away (MAX) from Alexandria. Closer than Capital I think at least.

Adam,

dont forget to lower your PSI on your rear tires. I think 10 pounds less then what your normal psi rating should be good. and on the front tires up them 10 pounds. Just remember add 10 lbs up front/Minus 10 pounds in the rear. When you are in the line up just waiting for a whiles, pop your hood open to let some heat out of your engine. Remove any unnecessary weight that you may have. Try and do different lauchess at different RPM's to see which has better times. Last im not sure how the gearing is on your supercharged M but i know that when i get to the end i have to shift into 4th gear. I made the mistake thinking i could finish the race in 3rd gear but at teh last second i hit the rev limiter and loss power so quick that i shifted into 4th but i wasted precious time getting there instead of just shifting into it.

ok..guys just got back it was a lot of fun :)
I had great time...but i don't think my car ran well or the auto tranny just sucks...this was a first time and i was very excited.. first run ran 14.77 at 98mph. 2nd run 14.23 at 100mph. I think my reaction times were horrible. 1st reaction time was .67 and second was .574.

R/T's have nothing to do with the time. .67 and .574 are pretty good actually reaction times, damn good. .500 = perfect r/t. Most important is 60' times. Your trap speeds seem REALLY REALLY low for what you have adam ... I would start checking things out.

people told me i should have shut off ASC..i forgot about that..
I was also on snow tires...may be that makes a difference..I checked as far the s/c everything looked fine..i was boosting to 6psi...which is what i am set at for the auto tranny.

Automatic transmissions often yield better times at the drag strip because they shift faster than people do with the manual (Not sure if this hold true with the M3 or not b/c of the loss of power the auto causes -- but with old mopars it's definately the case -- no pro-stock '71 duster is going to be a stick)
That said it sounds like something was definately wrong when you were at the track -- a stock M3 should be able to turn the same times.

Adam, not bad for your first time at the tracks. im sure once you get the hang of it you'll be breakin in the 13's with no problem.
