I'm getting off the freeway, 170 for you locals, on the Victory Blvd exit East, and there's this integra behind me.

The lane splits into 2 lanes, a sharp 20mph right turn is coming up that joins itself back into one at the end. I know this turn like the back of my hand.

The intergra sees that I'm sticking to the inner lane and tries to go around on the outer. I usually hit the turn at about 50 - 60. A little holding on from my girlfriend and we're good.

Today I hit it at about 70. The integra comes up to about my rear door, and then I hear these tires screeching ... Integra guns it reaches my driver door. I get on it a little more, and I hear more screeching and I start to feel the back end come a little bit loose. I correct it and start to put about a 1/4 of a length on it. We come to a stop, I hit the gas a little bit to hard and peel out. The acura follows and passes me in a matter of about 10 sec.

Pretty sad in the launch department. I peeled out and had nothing to show for it, :( . But I did have him in the twisty.

So .... does that count as a power slide, or just bad driving?

so you started losing your ass end when another car was at your driver door to the outside of you around a turn? could have been bad. a kill is not worth wiping out into another car streetracing, especially with someone you care about in your passenger seat. you were probably in control and all, but be careful out there. he might have backed off if he noticed you coming around.

Ooops, no she wasn't in the car with me then. I was on the inside. he heard the screaching and he gunned it ...

Heck I've barked my tires out of 3rd in this car. If she weren't an auto I'd be in so much trouble. :devillook

E30's (except the E30 M3) were known for having a squirelly rear (toe becomes negative under lots of load), thus the rear coming out. Good um, death/spirited run, be careful out there

Go practice "power sliding" or drifting next time it rains... It gives you a much better feel for the car. I still haven't been able to get my BMW loose (it has big ass 18" wheels) but I used to have an AE86 Corolla and an S13 240sx... those were fun to slide around :)

The most fun is a wet track day. I ended up buying my Bimmer because of one of those. They gave us all a BRAND NEW 328is (mine had 219 miles), wet down the track, and told us to go crazy. The car was so well balanced I decided I needed one for a daily driver. :)

If you can't get on a road course, at least do autocross!

A power slide is when you have full control of the car, yet it is going sideways ;)
