View Full Version : St. Louis Dyno Runs @ Reid Vann... Date TBA
Brent_Vino 06-20-2004, 11:28 AM I am looking to set up a day where we all (or some of you) get together and dyno our BMWs.
Dyno is a Dynapack chassis Dyno.
looking for a headcount and a day we can do this. It would be best on a Weekend.
his shop is on Manchester Rd.
Anyone?
MightyAl 06-21-2004, 12:57 AM Where on manchester? I thought I knew where all the dynos in STL were.
The three I know are Stegmeiers, Axis Power Racing, and Mustang Muscle.

Tracklab is the place with the dyno, but the shop is Reid Vann on Manchester. Rock Hill area i believe.
Johno 06-21-2004, 11:13 PM Sounds good to me. Any ideas yet on cost, etc?
I'm pretty much good any weekend except the 4th.

i'll find out more tomorrow. need a head count and people that know they can attend.... i believe the more people the cheaper the price.
i'll get a general cost tomorrow and report back here.
Brent_Vino 06-22-2004, 05:32 PM Here's the deal.
Reid Vann is charging 100.00 for 3 runs.
If we can get TEN (10) Cars to commit in doing the dyno, Greg @ Bimmers said we can use his facility on a Sunday morning thru afternoon for 75-80 dollars for 3 runs.
I need a list of participants that can guarantee they are open for a sunday morning-afternoon run. It looks like the 2nd or 3rd WEEKEND in July and it will be on a Sunday.
TT2M3 06-22-2004, 05:41 PM Hey all,
First time posting on this board.
Put me on the list Brent.
vinnymac 06-22-2004, 06:01 PM Reid Vann is located on the corner of Manchester and McKnight. It is fairly close to the Galleria.

got it.
Johno 06-23-2004, 10:55 AM This is making me kind of curious -- how much trouble is it to set up a car for one run? The reason I'm asking is it might be kind of interesting to do a run and then take off my intake and shark and then run again later stock. If this theory holds, I could do a run and then make the swap while other people go.
This would be cool unless set up for each car is complicated.
I'd like to do this for $75 depending on the weekend. It looks like either would work for me.

you will be able to run stock and then reprogram your shark and install the cai while you are still hooked up to the dyno. that is perfectly fine.
Johno 06-23-2004, 01:20 PM Maybe I'm missing something but it seems like I might be holding other people up. I'll stay flexible on this.
timsev 06-23-2004, 10:09 PM i got mine done at reid vann and he screwed mine up, although he still won't admit it. it's the d*** dynapack. oh yeah, mine was 75 bucks by myself, try to get a better deal.
Johno 06-23-2004, 11:24 PM This is interesting. It makes me somewhat less enthused about paying 75 to 8o as a discounted rate....

i called john at reid vann on tuesday and he quoted me 100.00 for 3 runs. i bet the 75.00 charge was before they started having a relationship with tracklab and setting up appointments now.
I'll call Greg tomorrow and decide which Sunday we are going to do this on. Even if you dont want your car dyno'd, it's a GREAT time anyway. Show up.
hey tim, when u say they screwed up ur car, please give us more details.
timsev 06-24-2004, 10:33 PM he didn't screw up my car, he messed up the numbers on my runs. he had the gear ratios all out of whack and when i said something about it, he got all defensive like i didn't know what i was talking about. i did it with the track lab guys by the way. maybe he just gave me a deal; i am always in there. well have fun anyway.
MightyAl 06-25-2004, 10:17 PM Ron at Axis Power Racing has a dyno in Belleville. If you have a group of people he might do like $50 for three pulls. He is a real nice guy and likes to have his dyno used since it seems to sit a lot of the time. It is a bit more of a drive but his dyno is good for tuning since it can vary the load. Dont quote me on the above price but I am sure he will do it for less then $100 for three pulls. It is a toss up between the drive or the money.
TT2M3 06-26-2004, 12:35 AM Yeah Ron is a GREAT guy !
Axis is where I went to have my VR-4 dynoed. I was invited from the Gateway DSM club. We had (I think) aprox. 16 cars and he gave us a price of $30 each with 3 pulls apiece. That might have been a special rate, but never the less, I recommend going there.

And a pic of my VR-4 on the dyno:
