earlier..i was going home from work, this white X5 coming very fast from behind ..didnt see if its 3.0 or 4.4...i caught up with him on a stop light
lined up with him...light turned green then he went WOT..i was caught
off guard..so i let him be...just followed him until i caught up with him on
another stop light...this time im ready...i shifted to manual mode...light turned
green..floored it....at the end of 1st gear he was about 1 car lenght behind
me..let off the gas at 90 mph (on a 35 mph speed limit) but he still about 2-car lenght back ...anyone
knows X5's 0-60? my car is 2002 stock no mod whatsoever...just didnt
expect that X5 can be so fast... ;)

X5 3.0's run mid 8's, 0-60 and run low 16's in the 1/4 mile.
X5 4.4's run high 6's, 0-60 and run low 15's in the 1/4 mile....

Your 325 is a 2002, and it's an automatic?

There is NO WAY your 2002 325i stock step beat a X5, 4.4
I seriouly doubt you could have even beat a x5 3.0 by the distance you stated if at all.
I have a 2002 325i and my wife owns a X5 4.4, so I am quite familiar with both cars. Not callin you a liar but............. :embarrasm

I geuss it's all in the driver?

X5's are teh slow.
I'm even surprised the 645's aren't that quick. M needs to help out there.

We own an Auto 3.0 X5 and while it was in the shop we had an Auto 2004 325i for over a month. The 325 is no doubt faster than the X5, however the 4.4 is a whole other beast, I ran one from a roll in the M and we were even until 70ish, then I just started pulling. He didn't let off either, I think it has to do with their gearing possibly. From a stop, I would have easily put a length on him.

WRONG!!!!!!!!!! First of all if the 325 is manual, then that means he does 0-60 in 7.1. So that obviously means it was the 3.0. He never specified if it was a 3.0 or 4.4 so obviously it was the 3.0. If the 3.0 does it in mid 8's then as you can see a stock 325i manual with 7.1 is going to be faster.

But his car is auto, he said he shifted to manual mode. :embarrasm

Re -Read the post, he said both vehicles were AUTO. And that he didnt know which model X5 he was running against (although he was right along side him on two occaisions) I stand by my statement

Best way to tell what kind of x5 it is, is by looking at the tail pipes 3.0 dual exhaust, 4.4 quad exhaust. 4.6??? :dunno

My gf's parents have the 4.4 x5 and I really don't think a 325 could take it its has a nice torquey engine, I mean it would a somewhat close race between my 330 and a 4.4 i think.

That's right, an oval tip on either side, AC Schnitzer-style.

They also have some additional aero addon ons in front and rear (diffuser-style stuff).
