My friend from the Porsche forums told me about this meet recently and I just
signed up today. Michelle, the organizer of the meet said that the Bimmerforums crew is meeting up at GSP mall before the meet...

Are you guys planning on meeting up at the GSP mall? Is it gonan be a big caravan up to Mahwah or just a small one? If it's a small one I'll probably just meet everyone at the meet, but if its gonna be a sweet caravan, I'll come to GSP first.

You do, in your garage, basement, somewhere in your house you have a 6" piece of wire...

Thats all it takes...

You need to ground PIN 7 of the data link connector. First Put the key in position II. (Accessories on, but not running).

Then go open the hood, and find the data link connector.

This is where it is:

Ok now that you have found it, unscrew the cover to expose the pins.

You will see this:

Now take your trusty 6" piece of wire, and insert it into pin 7. Pin 7 is labeled in the diagram as well as below (20 pin connector on the right)

Note the orientation of the "pac man" cutout in the center to get the pin right.

Now touch the other side of your trusty 6" wire to a ground. (Any engine bolt will do, but HINT: Pin 19 in the same connector is ground.

Technically all you need to do this is a paper clip.. :buttrock

Now get out your watch or count slow. Hold it 4 seconds to reset the oil service / green lights.

If you inspection lights are on, you need to hold it on there for 11 seconds.

Once you do that, take off the wire, close the cap, and turn off the ignition.

When you flip the key back on, your service lights will be reset.

It's as easy as that....

Thanks for the compliments, I did not see any of the M5's you guys should have parked with the rest of us, maybe next time we will hook up. The e46 board did a great job withthe caravan, it must have been about 70 Bimmers going up RT17 from the GSP to the meet. It was insane.

Of course for some reason I thought the meet was sunday and not saturday..
So I was puttin up sheetrock in my kitchen instead of going to the meet down the block from me *grrrrr*!
