View Full Version : WATCH OUT!!! Especially in Cobb
Sparc_it 06-17-2004, 12:06 PM On my way to school this morning there were 5 speed traps. Typically there are none. Lots of bike cops except on 75 where they had those crappy F-bodies.
I got pulled over in front of my neighborhood for no seatbelt  He let me off with a warning. He already had a X5 pulled over in the turn lane and he saw me waiting for traffic to clear, told me pull over to the other lane and lectured me for a few minutes on seatbelts...blah blah blah
Anyway, I thought I would let you guys know. For some reason they are out to get people today.
Speedtrap locations:
1. Cobb/Fulton line on Roswell Rd. (120) - Bike cops
2. Roswell Rd and Old Canton in front of the McDonalds - Bikes using laser, cops in the middle of the street flagging you down
3. The north loop - Marietta police both directions
4. 75 NB - Camaro sitting in the curve before the 75/575 split
5. 75 NB - GSP sitting behind trees right after the Barrett Pkwy on-ramp
All locations 2 or more piggies
03X530 06-17-2004, 12:09 PM No seatbelt. :nono
I saw about 3 going down on 85 South and a one coming back up north on Peachtree Industrial. The one on Peachtree was situated right after those curves as you come off a bridge so right when you come around he gets you with the laser. Sneaky punks.
bcart1991 06-17-2004, 12:11 PM One of my sister-in-law's friends got lit up for 100+ in Cobb Co. this week. He got lucky and the cop only wrote him up for 99mph.

Is a 100 mph a suspension or something or just extra points on the license?
Sparc_it 06-17-2004, 12:13 PM 5 or 6 points....if you are under 21...say bye bye to the license
VANCE 06-17-2004, 12:16 PM my dumbass has gotten 2 seatbelt tickets. i wear it all the time now
Sparc_it 06-17-2004, 12:24 PM I typically wear my seatbelt, but I had literally just pulled out of my house

Wow that sucks. I got my first ticket last year when i was 18 but i got out easy with no points on license or the ticket being put on my history. So insurance didn't go up. I did have to do community service but i was only got 17 over the limit. Since my previous record was clean the judge decided to be nice.

VANCE 06-17-2004, 12:45 PM there were 3 dmvs cars sitting on 85N last night between pleasantdale and steve reynolds.
//M-zilla 06-17-2004, 12:51 PM The boys in blue have been out in full force. I almost got tagged on 75N by Marietta for speeding but the old trust Bel laser detector picked him up before I got to him.

They are also doing their infamous 2 bike cop stops on Windy Hill, just after crossing Powers Ferry..
They do this like once a month, a speedtrap on an office complex roadway.. This is what upsets me the most about our police force(the countries actually). Go find some REAL criminals, how many burglaries, break-ins, molestations, thefts, happen every day where the cop drives up and says 'sorry, not much I can do but file a report'. Get out there and LOOK you lazy donut eating ******** instead of trying to fill quotas for speeding tickets..
These 2 guys are the same ones every month, they sit there with their radar guns drinking freaking coffee, and bullshitting, pointing to have people pull over as they gun them and drive by..
*rant mode off*
Ron17 06-17-2004, 10:58 PM Yes, they are out in full force.
Saw a group of bike cops shooting laser on 85N on the Beaver Ruin (... Beaver Ruin  ) on-ramp. Could've pulled me, but I was in a group of about five cars going "the flow of traffic."
Saw two DMV cops at Steve Reynolds. Saw two Doravilles on 285 (one, a Mustang GT).
This all within a span of about two hours.
fortysix 06-17-2004, 11:30 PM I saw tons of cops by exits 6 and 7 on 400 yesterday, both north and southbound. There was one biker cop tagging and then 2 bikers waiting to intercept, they were waiting underneath the bridge by exit 7.
I've literally seen more cops in the past 3 days then I've seen in the past 6 months.
Sparc_it 06-17-2004, 11:42 PM Doraville has GT's???!! What else do they have? I know they have the Impala SS, they nabbed me in it :(
Why do they have fast cars?
Oh yeah, watch out for a burgundy Impala SS ATL cop on just south of the toll booth
03X530 06-17-2004, 11:46 PM Doraville also have some Dodge Intrepids i think. Just caught my eye since its not the normal Crown Vic's cops normally have. I've seen those burgundy Impala SS cars you're talking about.
///M3Hellrot 06-18-2004, 08:40 AM Probably not useful to anyone but I passed a cop on Barnwell Road in Alpharetta last night doing around 80-ish in a 45 I think. So I think, crap, I have to get away from him before he decides to turn around. Drop to 3rd, speed up...110-115ish for a couple miles, pass ANOTHER cop and then I am really nervous because I am doing more than twice the speed limit. Turns out, neither turned around.
Then on the way home around 2:30 I'm going North on 141 I am going 60ish in a 45. I didn't want to push my luck because I had been drinking. My friend was dicking around though and passes me doing ~80. Just then a guy who I think is going the opposite direction flashes his brights. I get flashed all the time so I flash back to say "F you." Well I get closer to him, and it is a cop sitting in the median. I probably couldn't have gotten a DUI seeing as I am under age, but he just sat there and didn't come after us (before i get lectuered about drinking and driving, i had three beers in a span of 3 hours and my tolerance is higher than you might think). Multiple close calls on one night. I think i didn't get pulled over because it was a Thursday night, not fri or sat.

You sir are a retard.

Not lecturing, but you really shouldn't draw distinctions:
Well, I've only had X beers in Y hours, so I'm fine.
The list of people who were, by there own admission only, "fine" to drive, yet they still got a DUI (or worse), is long and distinguished.
Sparc_it 06-18-2004, 12:35 PM One of my friends got a DUI for something he didn't even do. He was drinking, BUT moving his car from the grass to a space at the Taco Mac we are having our dinner at. Cop heard someone squeel their tires, saw him moving and got him. It wasn't him....he had a 95 Altima Automatic. Anyway, they arrested him because he was operating a motor vehicle under the influence even though he was still in the parking lot.
That was 2 years ago.....he still doesn't drive and is awaiting his trial. Fulton County is BACKLOGGED

You don't even have to be operating it. If you are over the legal limit and you are in the driver's seat, with the keys in the ignition, you can legally be charged and convicted of DUI.
FYI, if it really has been over two years since he was cited, but they have not yet formally charged, tell your friend to get a lawyer and file to have everything dropped. I have a buddy going thru those procedings right now and his lawyer told him that they have two years to formally charge you, after which time you can legally file to have them dropped on some grounds (don't know the ins-and-outs). Probably something to do with statute of limitations and "right to a fair and speedy trial..."
Sparc_it 06-18-2004, 07:12 PM Aaron, he already has a lawyer...had one since day 1. He talked to one of the fulton county sheriffs and he said fulton county can take up to 3 years to process a trial.
When I went to court in Alpharetta a few months ago, the judge stated that you could move your trial to Fulton courts, but that would result in larger fines and up to a 4 year wait!!!!
So I dunno if he can really do that, but I am heading over there tonight, so I will pass along the info.
