I am taking delivery on my new Titanium Gray 545 this week and wondering about the best way to protect the finish. Should I use a good carnauba wax and which one , or should I use a sealant like Zaino on the finish? The dealer is trying to sell me simonize 5 with teflon. The car is not garaged and I need the best protection for NY weather. Thanks!

A sealant will last way longer and give the paint better protection than wax will. A lot of people like Klasse because it protects the paint so well for so long (if you do more than 1 coat).

Zaino. It is one of the best products I have seen. It brought back a mirror finish on my 86 Guards Red 944 Turbo. Using the ZFX with the polish it only takes about 45 minutes to spread on and wipe off. Also makes washing much easier as there is no dirt that really adheres to the finish. It also leaves the car's finish feeling smooth as glass. Those are just my two cents. Good luck with your new car. Are you taking Euro delivery, the dealer or here at our Spartanburg plant?

You cant get any of those products down here in NZ, no one has heard of zymol, zaino or p21s.. SO i used the mothers pure carnauba the other day because it has no cleaners etc in it, it worked quite well id say!

And when you use a sealant, you can also use a wax over it, beware of fogging tho..

Definately don't buy the crap that the dealer is trying to sell you with the teflon. If you go with zaino, I would aslo recco claying prior. Follow the instructions on the zaino website for z application and you should be good to go. See detailing 101 parked at the top for claying instructions.

David.
