20+ buyers we're looking at $215 shipped.

This will work with ALL euro ellipsoids:
ZKWs, Hella (old style), Bosch, Depo, DJ Auto, and perhaps InPro (likely as well, not confirmed).

What does it do?

From the cabin, it allows you to raise or lower the headlights via a rheostat-like switch.

This is NOT autoleveling. This is a motor.
Those of you with CAI, S/C need not apply :( :(

I think we're talking about different kits. The Hella universal auto-leveling kit looks like it's the same auto-leveling equipment Hella packages with its new E36 CELIS Xenon headlights. It uses an ultrasonic level sensor to adjust the aiming height. Attached is a screenshot, with a part number, from Hella's 2004 accessories catalog.

Even if you don't do a group purchase on this particular item, I'd still be interested in buying it from you if you can get it from your distributor.

thanks Matt, now how are the new style different that renders them incapable of accepting the leveling kit?

A pic would be good to illustrate difference(s).

Is this the actual OEM unit that were available on Euro E36's?

Can it be used with a Dinan CAI?

Uhhh.. read the first thread:

to clarify, those with TUBE type CAI need not apply.

I ask because is since most people have ECIS or Conforti intakes, there is more space with a Dinan CAI than even the stock airbox, so uhh yes I know how to use the eyes god gave me.

EDit. good timing. shit.

Can you post pics of actual unit? Maybe id switch.

umnitza

this is the OLD unit that we are NOT going to try to use:

but the concept is the same.

More space "dead" space maybe with a dinan type CAI....

However, space near the back of the ZKW is very very limited with, IF you can even get the ZKW, and the Dinan intake both installed.

But oh well... I'm interested either way!

Any updates for us, Matt?

umnitza
06-25-2004, 02:09 PM
We got a lot of information:

It's Ultra-Sonic for sure.
It works for SURE on all 92-99 3 Series with Euros.
Yes, even lower quality ones.

Since this is a new product and we don't know demand for it, here's the issue:

We can only buy in quantity NOW or in late August. Remember the Germans don't like to work in July nor much of August.

We will need to - for that matter - accept payments NOW - so that we can order NOW and ensure delivery by Late July (this is because once the order is placed, we will get the products shipping to us and have them arrive in 3 weeks as part of our other shipments).

$215 is the price shipped. One little problem. That price is $215 shipped if we have 100 people interested.

Otherwise, it's $250 shipped.

Details of the module to follow:

umnitza

yes, it's dynamic as opposed to static.

use a TIFF viewer like the Efax viewer - it should find all 10 pages.

It works now - thanks for fixing it.

Since I have ZKWs but no HID, I would seriously consider buying a package consisting of the auto-leveling kit and a 4500K HID kit... :)

Still interested.
From the diagram in Hella instructions, it shows the motor to be quite small, but without the external wiring/connector.
Just the plug in module for the housing.

umnitza
07-11-2004, 04:35 PM
it will be a bit more complext we anticipate.
The first one for testing is scheduled to arrive by end of July for testing on ZKWs, then we'll move forward with more.

Matt could you clarify the compatibility issue of this for those cars with CAIs? I've read the previous comments on this but I'm still unclear.

For those of us (like me) with either a Comforti, ECIS, AA, or Benfer intake; is it likely that there will be sufficient room for us to use this product?

Thanks, I'm looking forward to seeing this.

umnitza
07-13-2004, 11:45 AM
CAIs with tubes will have issues, he ones you mentioned above have no tubes and will likely be fine unless the filter juts further down into the bottom of the headlight, in which case, buying a shorter filter will do the trick fine.

Thanks Matt, that clarrify's it for me.

Do you have any additional information on when you're supposed to be getting the evaluation kit in?

umnitza

early August.

umnitza
10-09-2004, 09:08 PM
having fiddled with it by taking 2 different headlights apart at this point, we have NO way to say YAY or NAY on this product.

Unfortunately, back to the drawing board. The pin that the auto-level comes with is too short to fit into ZKWs or DEPOs.

Bosch will have to be checked. Maybe I'm missing something and someone will chime in, but this is a tough nut to crack.

And I will say, the unit is simplicity personified, you cannot make a single mistake with all the other components it's the most basic component that we have a hard time with - HOW DO YOU SET THE MOTOR INTO THE HEADLIGHT.

OK...back we go.
