I am looking for the maximum width i can go on my stock rims for a 1996 328i sedan sport. Stock size is 225/50-16. I'm looking to go at least 245. also any tire opinions would be greatly appreciated.

You'll probably need to roll the fenders to fit 245. When I was looking for tires, that's what people advised me. Eeeks may be able to help you better, I think he is running 245s and had to roll.

rolling....? E36 M3's ave 245's in the rear and no rolling is required.

Assuming your car has stock suspension you should be fine. Especially since your running only 16 inch wheels

The stock wheels are only 7" wide. I would avoid putting anything larger than a 235 on there personally. The 225's already bulge out a bit on the rim.

You made a good point.

I run 225s on my 7.5" rims, I wouldn't even put 245s on them.
