Ever since I got my car out of the bodyshop 2 weeks ago and have now washed the car twice, afterwards, this is what both sides of my rear glass looks on the rubber parts:

Since I had a new trunk installed and rear bumper painted, several ppl have said its just 'buffing' compound that got on the rubber...But I've tried several cleaners and nothing works..some "dims" it, but after I wash the car, it looks like it has lepracy (sp?)..nasty!!

Kyle came over last night and helped clean my interior (great job by the way!). And he couldn't get the crap off! ouch...

Please help!! :)

you tried *back in black* I think its called? its for bumper trim thats faded or some such. that'd at least make it black.

or if you're just trying to get rubbing compound/wax/stuff like that off, mineral spirits or the likes would do it. just be real careful around the paint. also wash off the mineral spirits afterwards. it'll kill the rubber otherwise.

Nick that does look like wax or polish. Many times when it sits too long it actually will stain the rubber. The way the pattern look it appears that someone loaded the orbital with too much polish and it splattered everwhere.. :nono

Mike is right that Black to black might help. It won't last too long but treating the rubber parts on your car should be a monthly process anyways. I have a feeling that the mineral spirits won't work. But at this point it is worth a try..
