I just recently purchased a high-mileage 2000 M5 advertised with 'premium stereo'. I'm going to pick it up tomorrow. I've done some reading, and somewhere along the way picked up the idea that perhaps M-Audio (I assume that's what they mean by 'premium') wasn't an option on 2000s. Can you guys confirm or deny? What would I look for - the back of the sub in the rear deck?

Thanks in advance, you'll probably be hearing a bit more from me in the weeks to come as I get acquainted with my new ride. Coming over from a Stage 2+ Audi S4. Curious to see the difference.

First off let me say welcome to the board and owners group. IT's always nice to have new people around. Check out our socal and norcal 5er meets to see whether your interested in coming out.

I don't believe their were ever subs suspended from the rear deck unless it was an add on option from the parts catalog. I'm not sure of the difference between M-audio and premium sound but I don't think their is much of a difference.

Not sure however, just a guess.

Isn't "DSP" considered the premium stereo?

There is no "premium" sound option for '00 M5. DSP was stanndard on all M5. Starting in '01 and M audio was an option which included bigger subs in the rear deck.
