View Full Version : Got Organization?
SilverBeam 06-07-2004, 01:45 AM Bought some new containers today, and I got all my detailing supplies organized. It all fits in my trunk perfectly, so snug, they don't move at all. Best 20 bucks I've spent in a while.
Even though they don't move, I'm a little worried about my PC. I think I'm going to line that container with some padding, just incase it does topple over at some time.

cosM3os 06-07-2004, 10:01 AM You, my friend, are a sick, sick man.
SilverBeam 06-07-2004, 01:19 PM No, I'm female thus its justified. :D
Ben Carufel 06-07-2004, 02:33 PM The PC is pretty resilient. I've dropped mine (once) from about 3ft (slid off the workbench when my foot caught on the cord) and it never missed a beat. I'd be most worried about one or more of the motor brushes cracking. (Or is it a brushless motor? I have no clue).
Looks like good organization. I'm anal about lids laying around (ask me how many times I've come close to throwing away my bucket lids) so I got two clamshell-top 50% opaque containers from Costco for about $7 each. One holds all of my chemicals, the other holds the PC/Pads/Wax Applicators/Tire Shine Sponges/Latex Glove Box/Bucket Lids/Brush Bag/etc.
I keep my Shop-Vac 1x1 in a wooden wine box (fits perfectly), and my Go-To chemicals in another wooden wine box. These have no tops -- they're about 24" long and about 15" wide, and 7" deep. They allow me to have the stuff I go to most often (3M Chems, QD, etc) right at hand and in sight.
The Microfiber and Cotton towels are in separate Container Store open-front stackable baskets. They stack nicely in the backseat of the beater for mobile detailing.
I'll have to get a pic of the setup sooner or later.
Ben Carufel 06-07-2004, 02:34 PM Anywho, your setup looks just right for the amount of chem you carry. I've got at least twice as many chems, if not more, so I need something bigger (which also allows me to stuff bottles in different configurations to fit more in the same space).

Sorry, I guess "Fernando" is the name of the car. In that case, will you marry me? You are clearly the only woman on Earth that could understand my obsessions.
SilverBeam 06-07-2004, 04:43 PM Fernando is my friends and I spoofing people putting their names in their sigs. Put our clan is small, thus people have yet to realize the joke. Car's name is Silver.
I used to have one large container that I kept everything in, but it was a nightmare. I couldn't find anything. And if something wasn't closed all the way, everything got sticky.
How many chemicals do you really need Ben?
And sorry Kyle, I'm going to have to decline your proposal.
hal9000 06-07-2004, 06:56 PM Lauren, I use plastic shopping baskets to cart my stuff around. Smaller, easily washable and I've got a ton of them from when we closed the family store. Fortunately, I haven't really done the mobile thing - mainly in front of the house for a few friends.
Of course, I'd make the argument you don't have enough compounds (I only see DACP and AIO) to solve scratches and stuff. Then again, where's the rotary :).

are u a detailer??? is that y u need to have all that stuff in ur trunk? do u also wear a bikini when u detail? :D :boobies :icon23: hehe
SilverBeam 06-07-2004, 08:10 PM oh there are more polishes in there. That box is the most filled one. I had to put my wax in with the PC since it didn't fit in the polish box. There is also: 3M perfect-it, 3M finesse-it, Klasse AIO and SG, and s100 SEC. Still on the slim side, but its rare that I come across a detail that needs anything else.
Yes I am a mobile detailer. And I only do my own car in a bikini, which is one reason why I have such an uneven tan :help:
Kyle K. 06-07-2004, 08:17 PM Ahh the joys of e-pimps.
Anyway, I need to get my stuff better organized... those containers probably wouldn't be a bad idea. How much did those things cost? Oh and... why do you have 3 buckets?
SilverBeam 06-07-2004, 08:19 PM I have two buckets, the smaller one has a lip on it.
The big ones were 3 dollars and change, the small ones were 2 dollars and change. They have locking tops with a handle, so they are very easy to move as well.

:devillook
bellavus 06-07-2004, 11:27 PM I use sterilite containers to store my stuff. They stack really easily, and the lids are interchangeable.
jimmieboi 06-08-2004, 01:12 AM Even my OCD has its limits. ;)
