While borrowing my mothers 1995 525i, I noticed a strange noise/vibration whenever the engine was in the 1900-2100 RPM range. The noise was constant regardless of the cars speed just as long as the engine speed hovered around 2000 rpms. The noise seemed to go away after driving the car an extented period of time.

She drives the car very conservativly, probably never getting the engine speed to exceed 2500 rpms, and there are only 90,000 miles on it. I am sure to give the car a good workout every time I drive it, which is infrequent now that I'm pushing a 540. For the above reasons I am somewhat worried that I may be showhow responsible for this noise.

My mechanic is quite a distance away, so the noise goes away before I can get the car to him. Anyone have any ideas as to what it may be?
