JT-Designs Underpanel for $134.95 ($54 OFF!): Protection & Downforce for a Great Price!
Sale Ends June 17, 2004

The people asked for it, and being a benevolent company, M3 motorwerks has given. Summer is here, modding is on the mind and now is the perfect time to replace that nast, busted stock underpanel. But first, for those of you wondering what a JT-Designs Underpanel is, a picture speaks a thousand words.

http://69.57.143.158/images/forumpics/jtdunderpanel.gif

From JT-Designs' website describing the underpanel:
"This 3 piece aluminum under panel assembly replaces up to 7 different BMW factory part numbers. This metal panel assembly was designed to take serious abuse, unlike that of the factory's plastic pieces. Like our other products, put them on and forget about them!"

Not to mention that the smooth, flat surface underneath the car produces a small amount of downforce. A great benefit for you track junkies!

How this Sale Works:

1. There's no minimum number of people who can participate for this pricing -- just place an order and you'll get an underpanel!

2. Shipment via FedEx is IMMEDIATE -- no long waits as with a group buy. We have 20 underpanels IN STOCK as of 6-03-2004. All orders placed before 1pm will ship the same day.

3. Shipping on the underpanel is $14.95.

Ready to buy?

You have two convenient options at your disposal:

Does this work with both M and non-M bumpers? Are the 'instructions' thorough enough to show which parts the panel replaces?

(<Shatter non-m underpanel / etc.)

Yeah, I was a bit disappointed that the instructions came with no PICTURES. :(

It took me a while to figure out where and what it replaced. Then I decided to not even install it since it required quite a bit of labor. I MIGHT install it later though. For what it's worth, it DOES look like quality parts. ;)

Micah D. Cranman
06-18-2004, 08:25 AM
Well, to me the instructions are pretty clear about what to replace, but as they say, I'm a lot closer to the source and know the product pretty well, so I've got a different perspective. Anyway, you shouldn't have any problems, but if you do, give us or JT-Designs a ring and we can get you through the installation.

This underpanel works with M and non-M bumpers, yes.

Considering extending the sale since it's over. Any show of people who would like to see this go for just one more week?

Edit: If I follow the steps and order one from the web-site will I still recieve a discount?

Clumpymold, the JTD underpanel is a BREEZE to install. You only have to drill 2 holes in the underbumper, and maybe make some new holes if a couple of yours are ripped out. It is Simple. :)

And the throw the porkchops away!!!

Yeah, I figured that but my porkchops are sorta modded on both sides. I had a tiny fender bender and I redrilled a few holes and stuff to secure it. On the passenger side, I drilled a couple holes and threaded a plastic locking thingy to help hold my brake duct intact. It kept coming loose. So I'd have to redo everything if I used the panel. :(

Thanks for covering for me slcook54!

No hook ups on a twin screw kit except the mouth-wateringly good one of free shipping and damn good service to go along with it. ;)

You can install the underpanel w/ the porkchops, but there's really no need. It's doable, but a pain.

Slight Hijack. Curtis or Micah, or anyone else who knows, what are the these to pieces called. I definitely have to replace them along with the fender liner. If ANYONE has part #'s for these it would really help me out. Unless these are the porkchops you are referring to. :help

Yep, they are the "porkchops". :)

You won't need to replace these if you have the JT-D Panel. ;)

They are indeed the porkchops we're talking about since they are shaped like, well, a porkchop. No need to replace them. Just toss 'em. I don't use them on my car, just no need, really.

They do come stock though right? If I don't need them like you say, I am more than willing to toss them. Mine are indeed in bad shape.

Well, the sale is no longer going, so proper code or not it wouldn't have gone through, unfortunately. Since you thought you were getting sale price, e-mail me directly at mdc@m3motorwerks.com with your order number and I will see what I can do. :)

Dwight, putting the piece together and getting it on the car is no problem. Slightly hand tighten everything so it stays put. I was able to get everything done by myself except one screw which goes through the Underpanel/bumper/fender liner. I lined everything up with both hands while my buddy hand tightened the screw. Then we went back and tightened everything. I feel better not running around with no underpanel now. PS, I replaced my fender liners while I was in there, the old ones were toast.

thanks for the info....(are there actually directions for it) or is it one of those figure it out yourselve type things? I did zero research for this product I just wanted to jump on the good deal :)

Do most people re-install the porkchops or just throw them out? EDIT: I just read some of the above posts which answered my question.

Thanks again

Well there are directions, and I would read them just to be sure, but the install is very simple.

Dont' mean to thread jack but i just wanted to say that m3motorwerks is a great company to deal with. I ordered one of these JT pieces for my 97 m3/4 5spd and it came very fast and in great shape. Unfortunately i'm missing some of the plastic pieces that it bolts into so i can't use mine. If the sale price is no longer going on and anyone is interested i'll sell it for 125+shipping and it's new in box.

Contact me via josephkan@hotmail.com or IM me at jkan2001.

Thanks,
Joseph

Joseph, I know you didn't mean to thread hijack, but people don't like it when you post something for sale in someone else's thread, there is an entire FS/WTB forum exactly for this. You probably need new fender liner. I picked my fender liner up for like $70 with my BMW CCA discount at my local dealer. I didn't have the patience to order from Pacific BMW which usually have the cheapest OE/OEM prices. I wouldn't run around without an underpanel, but hey, it is your car.
