June 12 and 13 is the longest day driving school at mid america motorplex, and a few spots are still available. The club really enjoys seeing new and young members out at the events.
Okay, it will be $270 of the best money you will ever spend. And isn't it high time you quit watching someone else drive? Isn't it finally time that YOU had some fun with that beautiful BMW of yours?

No experience? No problem, that is why we are here. We love novice drivers and you guys will get the most from this weekends activities.

Think you are already quite a driver? Maybe you should come out, as I know we can show you some things.

Scared of something? Nothing to be scared of, this is so much fun you will be kicking yourself for not trying it sooner.

In short...We NEED more students and we want just a few more good men and women. Come on, we would love to see you?

Go to: www.bmwia.org to sign up now.

Thank you,

BMW CCA Iowa Chapter

I knew you would be there, I am specifically aiming towards younger people with no DE experience.

BTW, you have fun at second creek last weekend? I came all the way over to Omaha for the car show and didn't get to see my 2 favorite people - you and Jeff. Ah well.

Recruit some for us Sheridan. Thanks for the help.

I might have to pass on your sept school. Road America is calling my name around that time of the year.

go to BRIC in July... I wouldn't do an RA DE without at least 300whp.... that track is just too big...

I may have 300 by then. I am swapping an OBD1 S52 as soon as I get around to it. Depending on how much $ I have left over after the swap, I may add a few go fast goods. Euro HFM, cams, pullies, software, and 24# injectors are all possibilities. It will be stirred with a UUC shifter on the M3 tranny through a UUC flywheel and will be stopped with the donor M3s brakes in place. Do you think I would be RA worthy with this setup?

from the sounds of that you still won't be at 300whp... at the crank, sure.... but not the wheels.

RA is HUGE and its a lot harder than it looks... 5, 8, and 12 especially. VERY hard on brakes. unless you've got up to M3 brakes and have an extra set of tires, I'd skip it.

Don't Listen to him Kolin,
The first time I did Road America (1992), I did it in a CRX-HF (67 HP) and was far from the slowest car on track even with that car. Like every track out there, the speed through the corner dictates how fast you will run at the end of the straights and the amount of wear on the brakes at the next corner. A slower car with momentum will do just fine. Trust me on that one!

My 330 only makes it to 128 MPH going into corners 1, 5, and 12.

That track is too much fun to not do...period. Just remember though, that there is absolutely no room for errors at that place. Mistakes can bite hard.

And remember, it is ALWAYS more fun to drive a "slower car" fast than to drive a fast car slow. It is also a blast to drive that "slower car" faster than the guy in the M3,S4, or 911. Ask Sheridan

Just do it!

Scott

speaking of expensive mistakes... somewhere here I have footage of a shiny-new 550 Maranello loosing it in 12 and writing off the front end...

if someone can host it... this guy was taking it easy and had several hundred laps at RA... still bit him in the arse.

I thought you said he hit the front end? :D

Scott,
My wifey did Second Creek in May and was passing people even though she never got out of 3rd gear (in the ti). She just left it in 3rd the whole way around, never even going into second. If she hit red line she would just coast to the next corner. WTF? Anyway, she was fast enough through the corners to catch people. :alright

Now, if I can just get her to use the thing-a-ma-gigy on the console... :help

S
p.s see ya this weekend !!
