The Motronics chip works great in the V8 840

I loaned a V-12 set out to be dyno tested but it never got done. :(

I have a V12 set of 3 chips-2 for the ECUs and the speed limit remover chip are included. Need to get rid of them soon.

Is it the same chip? how much of a HP gain will I get out of it and what is the price?

Stick with the auction first. I couldn't beat his price right now.

The Ebay listing is pretty much the whole story. His numbers on the 840 chip make sense. They drive better than stock or Dinan-don't know how they would do against Conforti. These are the cheapest by far. Just don't start a bidding war against each other. The 750 and 850 chips work in both cars.

The Dinan ECU chip that was in my 840 when I bought it is in a drawer in my tool box-not missed at all!

I believe that I have the Dinan transmission chip installed but I'm too lazy to tear my trunk apart to find out. I would believe it is there after watching a full throttle shift from first to second at 7000 rpm the other day. And the engine was still pulling at the shift point!! Hotrodder heaven!!

Now to get my 3.64 gears installed and then it should go!!!!

This item number is exactly the same thing.

Same chips, just advertised for 750 instead of 850. No bidders so far so a minimum bid gets you in.

Sorry Terry.. guess I missed the auction. Did you sell them or are you going to repost?

Not my auctions but here is another:

and another:

I would have to sell my spares for his "buy it now" price to come out even. He has cut his V-12 opening price in half.

Talking about Wokke, he is a fellow member of my 7-series board in Germany, and we have some great options... Two chip versions are actually Alpina routines, but we also have some other routines. The chips run smooth and you won´t regret the update. But you have to make sure that all codes are correct and that you put the correct chip into the correct bay. Swapping them will cause that the engine won´t start.

Thanks.. I did win the auction with Wokke and I am getting the EML chip also. I'm just trying to be patient with upgrading my 'baby', otherwise my credit cards would be maxed and i'd be in the 'dog house' with my significant other. hehe.. I'm sure we've all been there before..

I will be getting my chips installed today. So your telling me I should definatley notice a big difference in performance from the installation of all three chips? Will gas milage be worse or better with the chips installed?

Thanks

I just got my 3.64 gears in. Still smiling from the drive home. Had it sliding sideways even with the new 285/35s on the back!!!

I think that the best way for me is to wait until what I did last feels "mundane". Then I start planning to take the next performance step.

My 840 is my daily driver so I am in it every week day. A few weeks from now all of those alluring engine noises from the gearing change will be normal again and I'll have to drive the Exploder with the 5.0 V8 for a weekend to feel what Mundane really is.

Funny part is that the 8 is actually larger than the Exploder! Same length but the 8 is 3" wider if I remember right. Do sit a bit lower in the 8.

Unfortunately the next GO step is to take it to 400+ horsepower by supercharging and that is pretty spendy!! Puts it in the same HP to weight ratio as an M5 though.

The next TURN improvement step will hopefully be here soon and may keep me occupied for a while. Special sway bars- it is already lowered, camber plated and has shiny new Goodyear F1s on its big lipped OZ 18" wheels.

Makes me glad that I am old and getting sedate, Hate to think of what I would be doing to the poor 8 if I was young!!

That sounds like a good way to look at it. Besides if I made all the changes at once, I wouldn't be able to appreciate them individually. Not to mention saving the bank account. Thanks for that insight.

We have a BMWCCA meeting at a shop tomorrow, where we can all put our cars up on the lifts and work on them for $10.00. Sounds like a great deal and i'll be able to meet some local Bimmer owners also. Don't really have anything to fix, but would be nice to see the underside of my 'baby'.
