Im in the market

Great vehicle. Not many other SUV's come close to it in handling. I've driven a bunch of SUVs: Land Rover Discovery, Range Rover, Nissan Patrol (Overseas bigger version of pathfinder), Mitsubishi Montero list goes on... X5 is so far the best one. But if you want to take it for some real hardcore off-roading i would suggest the Discovery.

just pick up a 4.4i w/ sport package....gotta say i love it and this is coming from a guy who favor sport car.

I haven't driven the VW suv but I had no desire since I didn't like the looks.

Man I gotta say , WOW !

Yesterday A woman in the left hand lane driving a big ol Suburban with her left hand directional on ,all of a sudden swerved into my right lane without looking because an ambulance came outta knowwhere and scared the sh!t out of both of us!
I saw her sway towards me and I had to menuver around her on the inside or she would side strike me. I gotta say I hit the gas and swived around her missing the curb too! At the next light the guy behind me said holly crap I thought she was going to take you out! If I wasn't driving an X5 I'm sure she would have .

my mom has one, first of all i hate suv's and big cars, but the x5 is fine by me, it really handles like a car and its very nice inside. cant go wrong at all if ur in the market for an suv.

Great SAV. I have a 2004 3.0 for 4 months now and the only minor problem I have with it is the delay in throttle response. Although, I've heard about a software update for this, I'll give it a few more months and see if it will improve since it is an adaptive throttle system.

I have a 2004 2.5 X3 purchased and delivered in April and I am absolutely enamored with it. It handles very well, 130 mph on the Autobahn in Germany no problem, and very responsive. I have everything on it except navigation and automatic transmission. Great for travelling, great on gas mileage (compared to my 2000 Nissan X-Terra 4X2) and LOVE the sunroof!


I have a great photo of it up in the Alps in Switzerland but am having trouble getting it attached.

My dad just bought an '01 cpo 3.0 w/ 5 spd. I'm not sure if it has the sport package but i think it may. I drove it tonite and gave it nice run around. Considering how much the X5 weighs and how high off the ground it is, it is very nicely balanced. My dad said i did 55 on an off ramp! Any gm suv would barely hold 35. Topped it out at 135 with just a little bit more power left, but also the car has a lot of areo drag. Very nice car indeed! And we have a full year of free maintenance. I will have to bring the car to work and put it on a rack to see if I have air bag rear susp!?!?

I am not to familiar with the x5 so i was suprised when i read this in another thread that 3.0 non sports ride on air...If my wheels are the five spoke 17, does this mean i have the sport package?

Sports package comes with 18" wheels, 3-spoke steering wheel, and clear turn signal lamps.

It's most likely too late right now to tell you this but I came very close to purchasing the Touareg V6.The car handles just like my Moms Cayenne just with alot less power and the front fascia and the inside is beutiful on the V6.The down side is all of the problems they are working out with it and also the back end of the Touareg looks like a Soccer Mom's minivan on crack !!

I picked up a Black 2002 X5 4.4i w/ prem. pkg. back in January. Had 34,000 miles on the clock, I got her for $39,000. Love that thing! Putting a system in her now.

Only thing I regret is not getting the 4.4i...:(

Other wise, I love the 3.0i, but I can always SC the 3.0i and rape the 4.4i...:evil2
