I just purchased a 2004 E46 M3 and I just got my windows tinted. On the rear windshield, (since I have navigation), they said they can't tint over the entire windshield. Where the dots begin at the top is where they stop. They said I can either go with a vinyl strip to cover the dots or paint it. I was wondering if any other E46 got there M3 tinted, which route did they go with. I'm over in the Northern VA area.

What does Navigation have to do with tinting over those black dots? I have Nav in my car and the tint on the back windshield covers the entire glass, dots included. It doesnt look as good as a vinyl strip, cause you can see the tint imperfections in that area. But i dont think that you can see through the vinyl like you can with tint, therefore you would be cutting down visibility. Just go for the tint. Take it somewhere that will tint over the dots. I think the place you are going to now is just scared that you wont like the imperfections in that area. Maybe they are worried you will ask them to redo it or replace it.

I have vinyl on the top of my rear window and it works fine. Any tint shop can install it; it's easier to install than tint.
