I went out today with my friend to look at a 2001 M3 and when we drove it I he noticed that it tended to bog out if he hit the throttle quickley. Does anyone know if this is normal or if the car was just drove to shit?

Also, when we ripped it the exhaust sounded like it was rattling - I have heard many things about the car having a raspy exhaust so i was just wondering if this was just the raspyness or if it was something else.
