I just bought a set of OEM NGK Laser Platinums (DCPR8EKP ). Does anyone know what the gap is supposed to be? The Owner's Manual does not list it.

I did a little searching and saw that Kevlar referred to them as non-adjustable. Is the gap supposed to be correct out of the box? Even if it is, I'd feel more comfortable if I could check them to make sure they all have the correct gap.

If memory serves me correctly, the gap for the OEM plug is non-adjustable because of the way the spark plug is setup. The gap doesn't change.

Denso sells a single electrode spark plug which the recommend you gap at 0.0032

So....I should be okay with the way they are now? Out of the box?

They are dual electrode and do look more difficult to set the gap but I would think there has to be a spec.

Did you install the Densos? If so, how do you like them....are they Iridium?

I don't use the Densos... I use the factory NGK plugs. The NGK plugs last longer than the Densos do from my understanding.

I would use the spark plugs how they came out of the box, I wouldn't try adjusting the gap.

I'm on my third set of spark plug. I changed them myself at 30k miles and then I got a new set coutesy of BMW for Inspection II ... both used right out of the box.

Thanks for the info...I'm at 47K miles right now and Inspection II is due; I'm going to do a lot of the work myself...

I'm not sure where you bought your NGKs before but I found them pretty cheap are http://www.alloemautoparts.com. They were only $12.99 each and the shipping was free...and quick. The dealers want over $20.00 each.

Dealer actually wanted $25/each for them...

I actually went and bought a set from the dealer without checking the price... figured, how much could a spark plug cost . Well, the total came out to like $170. I was questioning the cashier... are you sure you got my order/name right?

At 30k ... my plugs were average... not great, but not bad. So I changed them.

The factory spark plugs are non adjustable. They come gapped the way it should already.
