I purchased a 2001 M roadster recently and would like to find a decent alarm system installer in Minneapolis for my car. Anyone had good experience with either a particular brand of alarms OE vs. aftermarket and also a good installer?

As far as reputable installers go, I can't really help you there. I do know that Best Buy has master certification installers working in their car bay. Ask the one nearest you about their certs (they are usually on the wall.) BB has spent a LOT of money getting these people trained to get people like you into their bay.

As far as the systems go, no idea. The Viper ones seem to be pretty good and you can get them cheap on Ebay. You may want to post in the car electionics/audio forum for help as well. We have some people in there that really know their stuff!

Hmmm..... They do spend a lot of money to get those people certificates, but I would NEVER take my car there. I use to work there as an installer and am now at a different local shop. We end up fixing a lot of stuff that they screwed up. Have a smaller shop do it for you. ASK AROUND FIRST
