coincidentally, i'm hitting the drag strip tonight too. i'm hoping the g-tech is right. ;)

btw, check that front diff mount bolt OFTEN. it will loosen up, then pow. that thing was a nightmare for us before we put in the turner solid mounts. you may even want to take it out and get a new one. then cut a slot on the end of the threads for a flathead bit to go into. it sure beats having to deal with the easy out if and when that cursed thing breaks.

lol no pictures on me here, but the ones we have involve a lot of middle fingers, general anger and lots of shots in the middle of cuss words. look under car right in front of the subframe. you'll see a silver bolt head next to the driveshaft coupling which goes through a bushing in the subframe and into the diff housing.

the stock rubber bushings allow movement which can bend and shear that bolt.

it's a chronic problem with e36.

here's turner's solution:
http://www.turnermotorsport.com/html/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=DELRIN%20DIFF%20E36

here's active autowerke's solution in the works. you can see a bent bolt in this one and the placement of the bolt.
http://www.activeautowerke.com/drivetrain/e36dfb.cfm

but don't worry eric, we had to run once with a totally ripped front bushing and i've learned how to really pussy foot it out of the line and only lose a tenth or so in the 60 foot, so i won't be hard launching yer car. :)

word. i'm not really clear on how that thing really helps anyway. turner mounts worked great for me last night at the strip. hoosiers didn't really work so well tho... best 60ft was 2.2. :(

edit: The bushing is in the carrier IIRC, and not in the diff. So basically the bracket eliminates the bushing. The bolt touches the solid mounted bracket and the solid diff bolt hole. I would think the only way this is better is that you do not have to drop the carrier to install the Turner solid bushing, so maybe larbor is less for those who can't do it.

ill have to run Hoosiers anyways just to get feel for the launch....

megatron, do you lower your rear pressures for ProSolo?

yah the bushing is in the carrier, but even with the bolt going through that plate, there's still the rubber bushing in between it and the diff housing. that whole rig doesn't make sense to me... but maybe aa has it figured out.. i dunno.

i actualy got it in and out without dropping the subframe.

to get it out, i did the ol rtab trick. actually, i went medival on its ass with a pair of pliers and a blowtorch. i heated a chisel with a mapp torch and cut rubber bushing apart with that. went through it like butter. wore a lil gas mask for this that i use when i work on composites stuff. then i stuck the hacksaw in and relief cut the metal of the bushing and it fell right out.

to get it in i made a rig out of all thread some jam nuts, some washers, and home depot load distribution plate for a deck. i put the load plate flat against the back of the subframe and ran the all thread through the bushing and the plate, then just wrenched it on, rtab style.

did you get the hoosiers already? lemme know so i can pay ya. hey, save those god runs... :D the 2nd and 3rd heat cycle from sticker are worth a quarter second or more with the a3s03.

as for pressures, at pros we run them at full national tour pressures. 35 back 40 front. we could still pull 2.1, 2.0 60s with that, and the launch isn't THAT important. whereas in quarter mile where a tenth at the short is like two tenths on the et, in pro solo a tenth at the short is basically just that, at least on the courses, i've seen so far (not many at 2)

oh on the "secret weapon" i think i'll just bring it on the plane. it's a quick enough install. :D
