Honestly for a 50k and up car I was kind of disapointed with mine... am I the only one feeling this way? were my expectations to high? :(

I think it depends on what you expected out of the car. I knew I was buying a quick car that seated 4, handled exceptionally well, and could act as a great daily driver. I'm not sure what more I could ask for. I'm wondering what you find dissatisfying about the car. Chris MillertimeM3 05-18-2004, 03:02 PM O love that I could fit 4 people comfortably but... just seemed like the car wasnt very reliable and I didnt really trust it. Had to go in the shop like every weekend for different things when I had it... Kevlar 05-18-2004, 04:45 PM I'm completely satisfied with mine. If I totalled it tomorrow, I'd still buy another one. Even with the design being 4-5 years old, I'd still pick one up in a heart beat. AzN_M5 05-18-2004, 07:20 PM O love that I could fit 4 people comfortably but... just seemed like the car wasnt very reliable and I didnt really trust it. Had to go in the shop like every weekend for different things when I had it... I am really sorry to hear that. As far as mine goes though and everyone elses that I know, they're as reliable as anvils. I've never had any issues with mine. The only time I'm ever in the dealership is for the scheduled oil changes. Other than that, I have had zero problems. TC M3 05-18-2004, 07:29 PM 100% satisfaction in my case. :redspot PrinceE30 05-18-2004, 07:32 PM O love that I could fit 4 people comfortably but... just seemed like the car wasnt very reliable and I didnt really trust it. Things like that make me want to eat my deposit and go buy a used Viper, or C6. MillertimeM3 05-19-2004, 01:09 AM What exactly was breaking "constantly"? -Prince Just like lil annoying shit(first month) - door wont open - window wont roll up - always a rattle somewhere - everytime its cold the suspention would creak and would piss me off - speaker broke had to replace that was 5 time at the dealership in the first month.... so I got kind of frusterated 12:03 05-19-2004, 01:40 AM Miller maybe you cant drive? :dunno 12:03 05-19-2004, 01:41 AM Before you freak out: Im just messin with you desi_m3 05-19-2004, 04:12 AM Tell me abt it.....I get frustrated ocassionally with mine. Sometimes i wish it gets jacked so i can get rid of it. Hopefully that makes you feel better. :D M333 05-19-2004, 08:28 AM i luv my M3 especially cuz its manual!! i just luv EVERYTHING about it, BUT... i wish that modding the car wasnt so dammn expensive!!!!!! MillertimeM3 05-19-2004, 09:40 AM Before you freak out: Im just messin with you You Son of A.... :D hsmith 05-19-2004, 08:23 PM I am more than satisfied with my M3. It has exceeding all of my expectations. I have never had any problems with my M3. Bimmermans54 05-20-2004, 11:16 AM All of you who claim to have this amazing m3 are all full of it. The m3 is not that great of a car. I have it, have it all done up to, with all the bolt ons, and rims, hoods everyhting, and it is just simply dissapointing. I had a S/C 330ci, with all the goodies, and he smokes me, out corners me, out brakes me, never ever goes near a shop, and it never dissapoints him. I guess coming from such a car made my expectations a little too high for the m3. I feel you with the damn creeking, and noises, its sooo annoying. Hopefully the new m's will be better. Have more room to play with, cause mid 12's in the quarter just aint doin it for me! quadcammer 05-20-2004, 11:29 AM if you wanted a fast drag car, why in the hell would you buy an M3? buy a z06 and run 11s with just et Streets. NoSoup4U 05-20-2004, 01:48 PM and he smokes me, out corners me, out brakes me This is the DRIVER as the limiting factor and NOT the car. ;) ... I looked long and hard at cars and swapped a few of them in the interim, the E46 M3, for the price, offers the best overall package. Porsche - not as luxurious ... NSX -- nice; but, not a daily driver IMO. Z06 -- similarly, can't drive it daily ... and not as nice in the interior. M5 -- really has no benefit until you hit 100+ mph .. unless you just want to say you own an M5 ... C32 amg - not manual, creaks as much as anything I've sat in, etc. Pricewise -- you get your money's worth with the M3 for an overall, well-balanced, luxury sports car. It's NOT a sports car per se ... but, for a balance, it's hard to beat. MillertimeM3 05-20-2004, 01:58 PM This is the DRIVER as the limiting factor and NOT the car. ;) ... TYhe reason I was disapointed with it is because of the actuall quality of it.. :( Kevlar 05-20-2004, 02:08 PM All of you who claim to have this amazing m3 are all full of it. MillertimeM3 05-20-2004, 02:24 PM I guess BMW's are jsut known for high maitenence i have tlaked to 3 people who are getting new cars I suggest bmw "no they are to high maitenence" is basically what they said..... I thougth they were known as great cars? And we've heard all about your cars in so many other threads. Quite frankly, I've never seen pictures of any of your cars. Many people have backed you up and I believe them. I for one am very interested in seeing some pictures, it sounds like you have some incredible cars. Please post some pictures, they sound sweet. Sorry for going off topic. Once again, I don't regret getting my M3. Pepe240sx 05-21-2004, 11:25 AM Hey millertime, did you ever end up getting another E46 M3 or what? ///MDriver 05-21-2004, 11:43 AM Keep in mind this is a highly tuned car from the factory. Also, did you have to pay for any of those repairs? And remember that BMW you were able to drive while yours was being worked on? Oh ya... ;) MillertimeM3 05-21-2004, 12:58 PM Hey millertime, did you ever end up getting another E46 M3 or what? Right now the insurance comapny is just being slow.. they ended up not totaling the car so now the pos has a salvage title.. resale is going to suck.. We are going to try to sue for diminished value... has anyone done this and won? Pepe240sx 05-21-2004, 05:39 PM So wait, how much was the damage? And how did it have a salvage title if it wasn't totalled? I thought cars don't have the salvage title unless the insurance company totals the car. Anybody care to clarify it? DMZ 05-23-2004, 03:30 AM Yeah, that didn't make sense. A car will only get a salvage title if it's totaled. MillertimeM3 05-23-2004, 03:36 AM O ok thats my bad then.. but the resale will now be extremely low.... and its costing them 30k to fix my car... waste of time.... Beavis 05-23-2004, 11:30 AM the resale minght be affected due to the crash, who was driving during the accident, he is the guy to blame for your resale issues. :devillook I love my M3, there is still no other car I would rather have within 40,000$ MaloventEvil 05-23-2004, 01:29 PM O ok thats my bad then.. but the resale will now be extremely low.... and its costing them 30k to fix my car... waste of time.... me thinks you got a lemon. MillertimeM3 05-23-2004, 01:37 PM me thinks you got a lemon. I already was thinking of that but I checked out the lemon laws and they wernt really matching up but then this stupid B hit me.... :( Pepe240sx 05-23-2004, 01:38 PM O ok thats my bad then.. but the resale will now be extremely low.... and its costing them 30k to fix my car... waste of time.... It should be totalled. Dallasbboy got his car rear-ended and had 34K in damages, and his car was considered totalled. Try to push it with the insurance companies as much as you can to consider it totalled. It won't drive the same again after it's fixed. MillertimeM3 05-23-2004, 01:41 PM Trust me we have been doing all we can... we tried that already her insurance wont do it.... so were just going to have to sie to get all our money back... wish we didnt have to do it this way because it will take forever but her insurance wouldnt total it so there asking for it... M Threesome 05-23-2004, 08:12 PM Just like lil annoying shit(first month) - door wont open - window wont roll up - always a rattle somewhere - everytime its cold the suspention would creak and would piss me off - speaker broke had to replace that was 5 time at the dealership in the first month.... so I got kind of frusterated Everything you just mentioned is very annoying, and I agree... however these kind of things are something you just have to accept with German cars. I have had 2 BMWs and and 2 Audis before and have been in a family that has owned 7 Porsches... these cars never fail to piss you off with bullshit like this. I work for a BMW dealership, and I see it happen all day long. The bottom line is to look past these small annoyances and enjoy the way tha tthe M3 drives, because there is nothing else around that can compare with the driving experience of a BMW (well, Porsche is nice too). BMW is the ultimate driving machine and the utimate pain in the ass machine sometimes too. absolutealex 05-24-2004, 03:38 AM I had about 30k done in repairs on my MBZ ML430, they should have tottalled it but the body shop convienitly failed to notice the cracked engine... fuckers... new engine swap and major front end repairs... the title is clear, I'm using it as a down payment for either the m3 or m5, still undecided, but the resale wasnt too bad, the MBZ dealership oferred me blue book value and BMW offered me 3k off blue book. Pepe240sx 05-24-2004, 01:02 PM Try other dealerships Millertime. Don't stick to just one dealership. MillertimeM3 05-24-2004, 03:44 PM its not like i havent... its all in the same ball park around 30g plus if it wasnt crashed it would be like up to 47 to 49k they would bu it for....so its no where near what I would want just bc it had been crashed :( |
