View Full Version : AZ Crew: Monthly carting and dinner events?
LukasBMW 05-17-2004, 10:17 PM Since we all had such a great time last week tearing shit up at the F1 Race Factory right off strip club drive, I was wondering what you guys thought of a monthly meeting.
Here is what I'm thinking:
The first Thursday of every month we all meet up for dinner at some fine establishment. The location can vary from week to week. After dinner we all drive to our selected carting zone and kick some ass.
If this sounds good to you guys, that would put our first meet on June 3rd.
Name some places you would like to eat at and throw out some times.
I'll start: The Chuckbox at 7PM
Also, do you guys want to stick with a membership at the F1 Race Factory or would you rather us go to one of the cheaper (more ghetto) carting places.
Post up your thoughts and ideas.
AzN_M5 05-18-2004, 12:10 AM I think this could be a good idea.
A nicely monthly meeting for all of us outside of the Pavilions.
The only argument I have against Chuckbox is the parking. I am 100% happy with sticking to F1 Race Factory. :buttrock
June 3rd it is boys and girls.
cowboy bebop 05-18-2004, 01:32 AM sounds great, but call it a PHX meet not an Az meet... us here in the baked apple feel left out, there is shyte all going on here in terms of bimmer things! :bawling::sleep :bawling:
ImageDynamicsM3 05-18-2004, 01:49 AM Why does nobody goto Speedway? I would like to know because I do some work for them and when they come in they ask for my opinions and suggestions.
So let me know so I can inform them. Also let me know if and when you want to do a group thing and I can see if I can swing a group rate. Let me know in advance (how many and when exactly.)
AzN_M5 05-18-2004, 05:40 AM If you've been to Speedway and then go to F1 Race factory, the difference is pretty obvious.
One feels ghetto compared to the other.
sounds good...i was thinking maybe we could get back to doing the almost monthly meet & drives but then i remember i'm not currently elgible for driving school to 'erase' any new ticket...and it's starting to get too hot to do a drive in the afternoon anyways.
here's the price break down...
for non-members:
f1: $24 per race
speedway: $20 (+$2 if u don't bring a helmet sock)
for members:
f1: $20
speedway: $16 (+$2)
BUT, since ur talking about thursday nites.....speedway has some special discount every thursday nite....where it costs non-members $15 (members: $12). they also have a coupon for $5 off membership.
yeah speedway is ghetto compared to f1 (u even get to wear a fire retarded :D suit @ f1)....but if we're gonna be doing this on the 1st thursday of every month, might as well take advantage of speedway's thursday special and save 9 to 8 bucks for each race.
ImageDynamicsM3 05-18-2004, 11:03 AM What makes Speedway ghetto besides it location? I have never been to either one, so I just have to take your guys' word on it.
TitanM3 05-18-2004, 06:31 PM I am in for the dinner, but I am too big for those damn carts! I have tried twice and failed horribly. I would love to do a monthly dinner though....
when u look at f1 racefactory, it looks like they easily spent over a million on the facitility.....and it all looks fairly brand new & fancy pantsy.
speedway, on the other hand, looks like they spent maybe $300k on it about 7 years ago.
i guess it's kinda like comparing streetflightdyno to dynocomp or EVOmotorsports.....old & dirty versus the new hotness.
titan: can't be that big...i think todd fit in a cart & he's like 7 feet tall *cough*that's a huge bitch*cough*
btw, i think i saw you this afternoon, turning left (or fliping a bitch) on university (in the viscinity of the wheel specialists & the fosgate buildings)....lowered silver e46 m3 w/ what looked like the ACS front lip, some black or gunmetal rims, and i think no license plate.

You mean, old and busted vs. the new hotness
fliplap 05-18-2004, 10:17 PM Does everyone here have a BMW CCA membership? I say we go crash the roadrunner club meet sometime. Too many old fogies in that thing.

Ohh yes, I am that big. I am 6'9" 300 lbs. I think that it is more the 300 lbs. that slows me down more than the 6'9". That probably wasn't me that you saw, I don't have my front-lip on yet or my wheels. The wheels are being put together as I type :D So they will be on tomorrow. Sounds like a pretty nice M3 though. Hopefully not a direct copy of mine. :stickoutt

Tommy? :dunno:
ArcticSilverM3 05-19-2004, 06:14 PM Tommy sold his car.
The guy Jason saw probably bought his car.
Crazy Dave 05-19-2004, 08:01 PM Cool.
MattE21 05-20-2004, 02:59 AM when did it sell? I saw him on Rural some saturday night less than a month ago. He was pimpin' it wit a hoe. We gave each other a nod and he took off.

Well, I don't know who you saw, but Tommy's car has been sold for a while now. I think it sold for like 54k.
m42technic 05-21-2004, 01:53 AM I see how it is.
Bitches. ;)
'96 E36 M3 05-26-2004, 03:42 PM Does everyone here have a BMW CCA membership? I say we go crash the roadrunner club meet sometime. Too many old fogies in that thing.
I have been a CCA member since 1998, although I've never been to the monthly Roadrunner meetings. To date I've primarily belonged in order to get the Roundel magazine.
I would be interested in a monthly dining event and definitely in for cart racing. I spent the better part of last year working in SoCal and had the opportunity to go carting on 5 occasions. Very fun. I've not seen any of the facilities here in AZ, so I can't comment on which I'd rather join...I'll have to wait and see.
DaveAZ 05-26-2004, 04:24 PM BMW CCA is for people who will buy a wiget, pay ten times the price for the wiget with the most "prestige" in the brand name (and assume quality backs that name). They will then got to the dealer, or highest priced BMW shop to install their wiget, and then they will brag about it. They will not know what it does, if it made any improvement, and they will not put it to the test as it might break.
Bimmerforums people are the people that know what a wiget does, they know where to get it cheaper and of better design and construction, and they install it correctly themself. They will put it to the test. They break it, then gloat about it and discuss it. They will then do it again because it was fun!
Newbies are people who will buy a sticker that says "Wiget", and put it on a part that has nothing to do with a wiget. They often were previously driving Hondas with coffee can exhausts. We laugh at them, then show them the way, and ask them to take their "Wiget" sticker off...
AzN_M5 05-26-2004, 05:11 PM HOLY $HIT!
THAT SOUNDS AWESOME!
WHERE THEY HELL CAN I BUY A WIGET???

The same place that sells the Super Chrome Go-Fasters or the Twist-On Plastic Look-Nicers...
TitanM3 05-26-2004, 07:54 PM I believe the company that makes the widgets also makes the stickers that add 5 hp for each one you place on your car.
m42technic 05-26-2004, 09:16 PM Group Buy On Wigets!!!1!
DasAutokerl 05-27-2004, 12:06 PM Are those available for E36 325i's? I'm not familiar with the widget; are those by Dinan?

Way to help the thread stay un-gay there buddy
:stickoutt
DasAutokerl 05-27-2004, 04:18 PM It's not possible for a post of this type to stay "un-gay" and here's why:
1) You Posted
2) Nancy Posted
3) Well, there is no point #3, however - SHUT UP SLUT. :D

 I am impartial as to which place we race at. Just pick one and stick with it so we can all get the Memberships and take advantage of the cheap nights. (i am king of stingy jew-ness).
cheaploopjob 05-28-2004, 05:43 PM Hi guys, im have a current membership in F1 and I got a 4 rides on my account

I say, somewhere where there is good parking..(common sense, fuck the chuck box... Shit parking, and i don't plan to met up to look cool for the girls...) DOOKIE FOR LIFE ....
Carry on Gentlemen.... Now let's get this fuckign meet down..
Jajja -
LukasBMW 05-31-2004, 02:54 PM I figured the chuck box would be OK because:
1. It's the middle of summer and all the ASU peeps have gone home
2. They have the best Burgers in the state
3. I didn't think the turnout would be al that great.
If you guys want to change eating spots we need to work this out ASAP because Thursday is 3 days away.
I still say we keep the time at 7 PM. The carting place is definitely F1. That said where are we eating?
jajja 05-31-2004, 03:41 PM let's go to SONIC .. haha.. not.. i say.. Like In&OUt or something
AzN_M5 05-31-2004, 04:51 PM Actually In and Out isn't a bad idea.
If we were all to meet at the In and Out burger on Ray Rd. We could easily hit the I-10 and then the 143 to get to F1.
Considering this is our first meet though, and I agree, I don't think the turn out will be that great anyway, I think Chuckbox is a good way to start. I say we go with Chuckbox since ASU is out and see how it works. If in fact the level of interest is much higher than anticipated, we move the meeting point for future gatherings.
How does that sound?

DasAutokerl 05-31-2004, 06:55 PM I'm chill w/In&Out being that I'm not a fan of chumbox, but either way it isn't that big of a deal.

IN & Out is better..

Crazy Dave 06-01-2004, 12:42 AM Whats this chuckbox place anyway?
jajja 06-02-2004, 09:16 PM post poeple...
don't make me kick your asses...
Misterdvs 06-02-2004, 09:16 PM So in and out then go puke at F1?? SWEET!!! :la:
AzN_M5 06-02-2004, 09:37 PM Okay,
To keep things simple lets just make the meeting point at In and Out burger. It's not too expensive, there's plenty of seating, and plenty of parking.
We will meet tomorrow night at 7:30 at the In and Out burger on Ray Road just east of the I-10. If you don't know where it is or can't find it, you are blind and stupid.
After we finish eating, we will take the I-10 to the 143 and get off on Washington to go to F1 Race factory. They close at 10 PM so we should have ample time to race and shoot the shit.
Directions to F1 Race factory can be foundHERE (http://www.f1racefactory.com/about_f1/map_directions.shtml)
Pricing can be found HERE (http://www.f1racefactory.com/about_f1/hours_pricing.shtml)
Okay, that's the plan people and it is now set in stone.
See you guys tomorrow night at In and Out!
Chris
