My car only leaks few drops of water most probably because of the water pump... when the engine is running it doesn't over heat at all! Only when I stop it(while ignittion is on), it starts over heating...

Is it bad idea to take to a drag race? :help

It's not a great idea to put the car under that kind of stress unless it's tip top. But with Drag Racing, you "could" check it thoroughly after each run, and maybe limit yourself to 3 runs, etc... so as to not put too much stress on the system, etc...

Get the leak fixed and have at it...

I road raced my car with a small leak from the radiator, and that was for 30 minutes at a time. When the car cooled down, I will fill up the radiator and just keep an eye on it. I bought an alloy rad, no more leaks :buttrock .

If you are leaking near the water pump do not drive it. The few drops can be a sign to replace it I would before occuring additional repair cost.

If the pumps fail and the car over heat you can warp the cylinder head do you want to spend the $$ replace it ??

Also if the pump fails and it throw the belt it can cause you to shred the fan blades and also cause other damage.

Take the time and get it repaired properly. :)

I don't think so, I think in 98+ models it is not..but I know it's the water pump. I ended up watching.

And it was fun, for 1/4 mile, lots of 9.xx and 10.xx cars were there, mostly old muscle cars... you can't ever hear the loud speakers because of the engines sound. tooooooo louddd..
