I'm my own boss, so I take long lunches or leave early whenever the hell I want (not often enough, though).

I work from home most days, so I have the perks of a bed across the hall if I'm tired, a stocked fridge downstairs, booze on a bad day, cable TV, and no one looking over my shoulder.

From my window I can see all the hot MILF's sunbathing on the patios during the summer.

I can work in my boxers and not shave on days I wake up late...

Well, the down side is I work too much, it's my own business and I gotta keep it aloft in a lousy economy where companies are outsourcing to professional services consulting firms less and less.

The result has me averaging 80 hrs a week every week, and sometimes even working closer to 90-100 hrs a week here and there.

As you've probably heard me say on occasion, I only post when I'm here at my desk working, so look at my post count as evidence that I work too much. Like this Sunday AM, I have a few hours paperwork to square away before hitting the gym later, and I'll be back tonight to set up my week...

It's a blessing and a curse, but I like what I do, so it's ok for me. But I paid my dues, I worked for some of the biggest, best, and oldest Executive Search Firms for years before going solo 4 yrs ago...

My family has a restaurant ( www.gandmcrabcakes.com ) so after my "duties" in the office are done.... so am I. I get to sit around and point to the phone when its ringing, have people bring me coffee, sit online and browse the forums, sit in the corner of the carry out and watch the hot girlies working behind the counter, all that good stuff. I help out when needed, but there are plenty of perks.

Mmmmmm... crabcakes...

Is your family's restaurant in Greektown? Don't know where Linthicum Heights is.

There was this Greek restaurant in downtown called Cypriana's off of Baltimore Street that had AWESOME falafel. I assume it was maybe a Turkish owner as most Greek restaurants don't offer falafel...

Ahh yes, a Ying for every Yang.

:eyecrazy: Damn thats a lot of hours man. I suppose that If you like what you do that compensates a little. Just so long as you have and 'outlet' so you don't burn up...

My Yang: After four years in the Marine Corps I now drive a desk when I'm not driving the M. Raking in over twice the salary though. :devillook

My Ying: For the first time in my life I'm getting fat. There's probably others... :shifty

Overtime? What's that? :(

I've worked many 60-70 hour weeks throughout this engagement, and that's why I'm so lax with my time now. I never got paid for it, and I can't use it all at once as comp-time.

60-70 hour weeks? That sucks. I'm not allowed to carry hours over from month to month so if I run out of hours and they need me, they either have to pay overtime or they send me home. They also started enforcing a rule that we aren't allowed to work more than 9 hours per day unless approved.

Oh man, I used to get that at my old company.

Some months the market would be out of control and we'd stay come in early, stay late and lunch was served to us at the desk so there was another hour. We had one summer where everyday was like that. With all the overtime and trading bonuses...$$$KA-CHING!$$$

It was worth the daily roll of Tums I would eat every day! :D
