The Westchester Sports Car Club is hosting their Final Spring Autocross this Sunday May 16 at Orchard Beach. This is your last chance before summer to autocross on the best surface in the tri-state area. :redspot
Orchard Beach opens to the Public on Memorial Day and closes Labor Day!
You'll have to wait until after Labor Day (4 Months) to Autocross again at that site. :(
Preregistration is online now:http://www.wscc.org/prereg/prereg.html

Tomorrow looks like its going to be a good day. Slight chance of showers, over night tonight, so we'll have to see what the puddling looks like in the morning. I'm going to be designing the course tomorrow and I have an idea as to what I want to do, however if there are any puddles I'll have to change my course design.
As of now there are just about 80 people on the preregistration list.
Bevis- With only having 1 modification done to your car, which is the brake rotors, you are much better off in the street tire class.
Andy- Hopefully you'll make it for the last event this spring!
Tomorrow is going to be a pretty crazy day for me. I'm running 2 events at the same time. I'm arriving at Orchard Beach at 7 am for setting up our event. Then at 9:30 am I'm leaving our event to go run in the Mazda Rev It Up event at Shea Stadium to try and defend my win from last year. I'll be finishing up with that at about 1 pm and will be leaving that event and coming back to Orchard Beach and borrow someone's car for the afternoon runs. :D

this may be a stupid question but i have to ask.
since you are going to setup the course tomorrow are you going to have cones laying down pointing to were you have to go?? cause at the first autocross i went to i was off course like 7 out of 8 times, but at last weeks event i never went off course..
I am sure that would be beneficial to everyone else as well..
thanks :D
Maxx, looks like your shaping up to be decent competition
lol
i am coming after you guys!!! will see if i can catch you tomorrow. since i have done 3 events already i cant sign up for Novice anymore, so i registered for Street Tire...

The courses that I have designed usually don't need pointer/helper cones. However, I do like to use them in case there are novices. I will use them in specific places if there are instances where you look and where the course goes are 2 different places. Then I use lots of pointer cones in those areas. One of the things with my courses is that I make the courses a little faster, so where you look, how you place the car, and how you balance the car are all key factors in a fast time. Its also key that you look further ahead then necessary due to the slightly faster speeds.
One of the reasons why you may have not had a problem last week, compared to other events, is that more cones were used to mark the course, meaning that there were more gates, and they were closer together helping to mark the course. I don't use many cones to mark my courses, that way the courses are more free for the drivers to pick a line that will work for them, instead of making the course dictate where you have to place the car. I do like to try to make my courses easy to follow. Depending on the weather tonight and how wet the parking lot is tomorrow, will dictate how I'll design the course.
