View Full Version : Z3 2.8 vs Minivan!!!!!
StouffvilleZ3 05-07-2004, 10:27 AM This isn't really a great story, but in light of all Hugo's recent kills I thought I should do my part.
So I'm 90% asleep (good sex last night) and on my way to the office at the crack of 9:30...
Most of my drive is through the country, I just doddle in and pass the odd old person on the way in.
I get into Markham and I'mm sitting at a light. There's this dumb ass in a Minivan sitting beside me, looking mad at the world (40ish nearly bald, you know the type). The light goes green, and I hear a tire squeal. I realize he wants ahead of me so he doesn't get caught behind the truck ahead...
"No you didn't just try and take me out" I think...
I launch normally and let it rev to about 4.5 to 5K (It's only a minivan remember!), I get through second shifting into third when I see this angry old dude about 10 car lenghts back. I'm proud to report that yes a modded Z3 2.8 can take out a Minvan...... whew, I was nervous.
That's my kill of the day, it sucks but there you have it.
(I got a 540 6 speed yesterday)
Numanoid 05-07-2004, 10:40 AM Woot!
Good kill! I rather dislike minivans....

MGregski 05-07-2004, 10:49 AM :bs:
There's no way you pulled 10 cars on him. I'd say 8 or 9, but definitely not 10:D
:D:D:D
Dwayne 05-07-2004, 10:54 AM What kind of minivan was it? :)
James86-951 05-07-2004, 11:06 AM I had a pathetic race experience like that. I was driving my wife's Grand Caravan against an old oriental man in a late 80's Lincoln Town Car.
Aaaa, He did not know the power of the minivan!!!!
Numanoid 05-07-2004, 01:03 PM You're lucky it wasn't an E95 Bimmer minivan. That thing wouldda owned you in the twisties.
E95 in 2007! :bigun2:
MGregski 05-07-2004, 01:04 PM e95? Pics?
Numanoid 05-07-2004, 01:34 PM It's being discussed at BMW whether or not they are going to create/release a minivan.... sigh.
I just read it in my Roundel last night. If they DO proceed, it was to be unveiled at a German auto show in 2007. It has been designated the E95.
:embarrasm
I didn't know that Bangle could screw up the brand THAT bad...

Just imagine the flame surfacing with all that fricking metal to work with....
Just imagine the flame surfacing with all that fricking metal to work with....
Oh man, it's gonna be a flame thrower!
MGregski 05-07-2004, 02:24 PM Oh, now I remember hearing about it. As the 5er was based on the Pontiac Grand Am and the X3 looks like a Ford Escape with roundels, the e95 is supposed to resemble the Aztec. I'm starting to get scared now.
Dark Helmet 05-07-2004, 03:30 PM Bill Bill Bill Bill Bill Bill Bill Bill Bill...
Roffle Waffle 05-11-2004, 01:54 PM watch out for those turbo diezel minivans.
fortysix 05-11-2004, 02:07 PM The name of it is the V series. I'm too lazy to find pics, but if you're looking for information search for that.
It kind of reminds of a Mercedes M-Class from some angles, but its windows look like they're from one of the older Honda Odysseys that look like aquariums because there are windows freaking everywhere.
BabyM 05-11-2004, 05:22 PM I love it when minivans rev on me :devillook
Of course I've never run across one of these guys http://www.turbovan.net/van.html
MGregski 05-11-2004, 05:56 PM Hehe, I remember seeing that van destroy a Camaro on the track.

   hahaha Hugo
StouffvilleZ3 05-12-2004, 12:55 PM You're right I only got 9 car lenghts.
I think I can explian the Minivan mentality though....
I drove the old mans van up North to pick up my newly repowered ski boat this weekend. That thing is so mind numbing that you start to drive like an a-hole just to entertain yourself. Maybe that explains the majority of drivers these days. My Civic feels racey in comparison to the van. (BTW- My Civic sucks).
EIAlfonso 05-13-2004, 05:33 PM He should of beaten you, are obviously a much better driver..good kill
Hold on how many passsengers in the van? I might have to retract my earlier statement.
SlicedBread 05-13-2004, 11:01 PM I love it when minivans rev on me :devillook

Holy crap! that guy is running mid 12s with a 2.5L engine and he got his 60ft down to 1.87. I'd love to see one of those on the road.
AlaskaBimmer 05-15-2004, 09:31 PM I saw a Ford 350 crew cab longbed (with a camper shell) turbodiesel with a lift kit and mud tires run a 14.66 in the 1/4 mile today.....the cloud of black smoke was tremoundous......you never know what your gonna run into lol....
DTM Driven 05-17-2004, 07:47 PM hey guys thats nothin, the other night i was driving my moms ford e150, its one of those van conversions, when this wanna be racer in a 99 SI pulls next to and starts revin' his engine, you know the little ricer 4 bangers with those shitty loudass exhausts. well anyways, i thought what the hell, the light goes green i took him at the light, i had about 6 cars diffrence, and about 5 lights down he finally caught up to me, it was a good 1/2 mile run i got to 90 mph, man my moms 5.8 v8 really hauls.
