I was at Springfield Mall eating dinner with a friend. After we finished the teriyaki chicken, we headed back out towards the parking lot. We had parked next to a Techno Purple/Avus Blue E36 M3 (couldn't tell, it was dark).

As we approach the car, I hear a very distinct sound. I look up to see a brand new E55. "Just an E55—" Before I could finish my thought, I heard the beast. The beastly growl of an E55 AMG. I was ecstatic. We got in and quickly pursued. As we passed, I revved my engine (knowing full well what I was getting myself into). We wait to exit the mall and then as soon as the road split into two lanes, we both floor it. Mind you I was a car length ahead too, when we started. I floor it, shift, floor it, shift into 3rd and ASC turned on. By the time I was halfway through 3rd, the AMG was already about one or two carlengths ahead and was still passing us with blinding speed. We shut down at about 70. At the light, we talk and I compliment him and congratualte him on royaly raping me. He said he just bought it not too long ago. It replaced his old Supra TT. "Tomorrow I'm bringing it to Renntech." My mind was blown when I heard this. It already pumps out a monstrous 470 HP, and Renntech would probably get it up to 500-510. The light turned green, we waved, and that was that.

Nice death indeed. Nothing shameful in losing to a good competitor.

Personally, I think the dinner weighed you down tipping the scale in his favor.

You'll get him next time!

It sounds as though you thought it was just a "regular" E55. Well, If it is an E55 it is an AMG. There are no non-AMG E55s.

Engine temp was still warm.

Oh, sorry. I'm not too familiar with these cars.

Tree-pulling torque has it's way of making itself known in a race, especially from a roll... nice death to a worthy opponent...

Nice run...torque forgives sins, remember that.

Nothing to be ashamed of; the car traps 117mph from the showroom floor.

I gotta run one of these soon...

Nice death!

I'd blame it on the added weight of the food plus your friend in the car, then say I'd take 'em in the twisties, and at least I get to go home in a BMW. :stickoutt

Half-way through third at 70 mph.

Nice loss. E55 + RennTech = bubye to most cars.

Man, even the older 1999 E55 was fast when I test drove it. Love that sedan.

Nice death... it is nice to hear of a "cool" Mercedes driver for once, I haven't met too many of those.

(MThreesome): I spanked an E55 when I was bone stock and driving with a flat tire and 3 passengers. All skill baby.

I guess turning off ASC hadn't crossed my mind because the adrenaline started rushing to my brain and I went brain dead. I remained that way until I got home.

You should drive with it off to begin with. That was the fist thing I'd do in my M coupe.

I've never driven without ASC on. If I floor it, what would happen? I'd guess it'd start to fishtail, but I really don't know how to correct it. Countersteer to a certain degree?

the mcoupe is fun to launch, very 'active' tail. just modulate the throttle/clutch to keep the tail in check. I'm sure Dave can provide more details then me of course.

nice death by the way. :D

What? Dude, the next mod should be a driving school.
