This morning when I went out to my car I noticed that the P light was on. :confused: It is staying on all the time now when the car is turned off and the key is out of the ignition. Weird huh?

When I put it into drive (D) the light switches as it should. :help WTH?

Anyone had this happen before?

Was only one side on? If it was then you were using your night parking light feature. this feature is turned on when your signal light is set on either side while your car is off.

I should have been more specific.

I'm talking about the small orange light next to the gear shifter inside the car. It stays on all the time now. When I put it into any other gear (N,3,2,R) it switches fine. But the light next to the P stays on even when the car is turned off.

The Park Indicator on my shifter lights and stays lit for a while after locking/unlocking. I don't know if it is a security feature or what. I'll research it on the TIS or the manual when I get home.

I just thought it was supposed to do that!

BTW: On my car, it does turn off after a while. I have walked up to the car after it has been sitting and the indicator light is off.

I have the 04 and the same light you are describing is always on, even when the ignition key is taken out, I am guessing that this is a safety feature

The light next to the gear indicator stays lit for about 15-16 minutes after the car was locked or the door closed. From what I have heard on the various boards over the years is that it takes a certain amount of time for all of the different modules (computers) in the car to shut down. When you unlock or open the door the light goes back on which means that it powers up all of the modules.
