of course, everyone knows NOT to leave bird droppings for any length of time on your paint. in NJ, the birds must eat KFC and McDonalds all day since they're poopie seems to etch into the paint even after a few hours.

has anyone come up with a way of safely removing this nuclear bird poop without scratching the paint?

i'd like to hear about the success of others and techniques they've used.

I had a bird mark my car...

I go to clean it an hour later and its already eaten into the clear coat.. as of yet nothing has gotten rid of it..

I got lucky :eek: I left some on for a day or two, accidentally, and it only BARELY etched the TEENSIEST little bit of a mark on the edge of where it was, nothing in the center.

They really do around here Ben.. its insane.. I had a few on my car that did stain or darken the paint a bit. I tried everything.. but initially u cant do a thing. I tried about everything but compound. But.. over a few polishes and waxings, they do go away. I cant see the stains on my car anymore..

I've had the same problem, but I might have a solution:

back in the days when I had my hooptie 91 Pathfinder (black, with stillen goodies...damn I miss that truck...) I used to use this old can of Turtle Wax Bug and Tar remover...it had always been lying around our garage for years...not sure if they make the same formula anymore.

A treatment of this followed by good wash and wax usually got rid of any burn thru by bird poop....That is unless the bird had Mexican food the night before, in which case a second application would do it.

The stuff came in a non-aerosol can. It was a noxious smelling, goopy, cream. I haven't seen it awhile tho. The current stuff that turtle wax makes does not look or smell the same...nor does it do as good a job.

Griot's version of Spray and Wax takes it off pretty well. But you better have a good wax under it. It's the heavy calcium intake that does it. Seagulls in particular. But lots of birds here in Southern Cali eat those damn snails.

I've found that once the bird dropping has etched the clearcoat there isn't really anything short of removing a little clearcoat to get rid of the mark...or help it. Of course when you use a compound to remove a little bit of the clearcoat the clearcoat is thinner in that area, which isn't good.

Wow i havnt posted on here in a long long long time..

anyways i have a bird shit problem on my car i got like 15 drops of nuclear shit that i went to go clean off yesterday and when i removed it the surface was stained so im deeply sadened. Im gonna go at it with the buffer this weekend and see what happends.

I think the first thing that should be done to the car to protect from things like this is to put a good sealant on it. After that, if you get bird crap dropped on your car, the way I've found that works for me is to remove it by spraying it with water until it's removed DO NOT TRY to wipe the crap off !!! Just keep spraying it untill it softens up.

Keep you car waxed, once a year will do it, because if you dont the nuclear stuff will penetrate the shell, then the headlining and next thing you know the trousers your wearing.:eek:
