Echo 05-04-2004, 02:18 AM I drove a Euro E21 323i for a friend up there, and on the way up i passed some E46's with big wings at like 120-130... they probably didn't even know what hit them... god that car was a rocket... THE RING 05-04-2004, 02:25 AM Being the only one missing the side marker at the show. Lost it on the way to bimmerfest coming from AZ doing 137mph, just blew off. totally worth the loss in my eyes. :evil2 94is 05-04-2004, 03:37 AM On the way up Friday afternoon, my JTD underpanel decided that it was done, and pulled down while I was doing 120mph. I had to drag it 2 miles to the next exit before it fell off and I could recover it. I wasn't too happy with having my car there without an underpanel and brake ducts, kinda looked ghetto, imo. I didn't see too many stupid things, but I did get to mess around with my friend in his 328i. Ran him up to about 120 through the twisties, before I started to back off. I just don't trust myself with the car after the swap in hard driving. Had to brake while slightly turning due to stopped traffic around a blind corner, and the back end started to come out (was going about 100mph). Gotta love the stiff suspension. :stickoutt It is times like that which keep me remembering how nervous and unpredictable the car can be. :nono 318daily 05-04-2004, 09:10 AM Thinking that i could get through LA and Ventura traffic at 5pm - that was pretty crazy and stupid. oh well, but i forgive the freeways now since they let me get back down to SD in under 3 hours, including a stop for fuel. Glad to have met you, btw check out the E21 section for my pics, the of the little one is in there, so cute! jbob 05-04-2004, 04:49 PM joel...haha, yeah ur e46 had a battle scar arriving to Bimmerfest. on our way back to phoenix, one of the e46 m3 guys in the AZ caravan got this hot blonde's phone # while we were all cruising @ about 80mph. :icon23: m3teknitian 05-04-2004, 05:08 PM i personally think that catching the CHP radioing ahead after the caravan i was with went by (at 65mph) a pulled over EVO was pretty cool. from that point on i counted 3 CHP posted on the side of the 101N waiting for the "4+ modified BMWs racing northbound on the 101." of course, i had cruise control locked in at 65mph and everyone else was either next to or behind me, so no citations were issued. or there's crazy like my friend in the e46 m3 and i doing a few top speed runs up to about 160mph earlier in the morning as we were leaving SD :D aaron I think that was me, JT, SGI4Side and this other guy with a Dinan 3 that they were waitin for. Or those CHPers could have been waiting for all of us :shifty I wonder.. Oh well, but yeah, 2 other bimmers and I were pulled over for goin 91 MPH. boo 96INFMSM3 05-05-2004, 08:21 PM I was just getting ready to pull off the freeway at the exit for the fairgrounds when some girl/guy pulls right in front of me out of the emergency lane. I braked hard and easily slowed down in time to avoid him but the person behind me didn't notice my sudden slowing and almost rear ended me, he swerved left but not enough to miss me. So I swerved right and he barely cleared my the left side of my rear bumper. I swerved to the right pretty hard and as I did it I was thinking "I hope I don't lose control." Luckily the grippy SO-3s helped out :) I think that was the scarriest moment of bimmerfest and it wasn't even that bad... JM3 05-06-2004, 12:28 PM hmmm my craziest story would be almost getting rear ended on the caravan from OC to that park area with all those knats. anyways, we were merging onto the 101 from the 405 and the three cars behind me all ended up rear ending each other. thats what happens when you tailgate and don't let civilians go about their business. basically the bimmer driver behind me would not let this average guy get in between him and me. so when the guy finally was able to cut over, the cars behind all decided to tail gate. when i saw SERG's 99 m3 in front of me brake hard, i braked as well. then i heard the crunch. i didn't even need to get out to know what happend. |
