Hi,

I just bought a clutch kit for my 97 318ti with the M44. My question actually regards the flywheel. Do I have to buy a new one, or can they machine the existing flywheel? Reason I am asking is because I remember someone saying that they are dual mass and cannot be machined. Anyone know?

A good machine shop CAN do a dual mass. Only question is do you have one in your area. As long as it's not glazed or uneven you should be able to just clean it up and reuse.

The DM flywheel has moving parts so although it may look good it might be on it's way out.
