I'm going to be doing an engine swap, it's the same engine as my old one but lesser miles 95 M3. What should I be prepare to face?

where in wisconsin do you live? I am from WFB mIlwaukee
I don't know much about engine swaps, sorry but some of my friends are very knowledgable about certain BMW swaps mainly e30 series
if you cannot find a place to do it... we have a hoist and power tools

Alot of spending on parts&labor you did not anticipate.

Sounds like a pointless engine swap to me, why don't you just do a rebuild?

Bingo - you can get some internals re-done and I'd drop a turbo in. Rather then getting another E36 Engine in with 'less miles' thats going to cost more then a rebuild, was in a totalled car (most likely) - Get it rebuilt, and get some custom internal work.

My 0.02 cents,

I lived in Milwaukee.

At first I was planning on rebuilting the engine, but I was quoted $3K for rebuilding just the head. That's why I chose to get another motor.

Is there anything wrong with your engine? And how many miles does it have?

Let us know,
Andrew

150K miles on the engine for excessive traveling.

Bad headgasket, and a broken exhaust camshaft, other than that its' fine.

The new motor I'm getting is with 50K miles, will be here shortly and after swapping the old motor is up for sale, thinking of parting out.
