Last night i was driving home on 680 coming from walnut creek to vallejo after i had just picked up my little sister from her dance practice. As i merge onto 680 to go back home i hear this loud... i mean loud mustang... I thought it was going to be a Cobra or a Saleen just by the way it sounds. Anyways i hear him fly by me and i still cant see what kind of mustang it was. All i knew was that it was black and loud. I fallow him and we are both coasting at 85 i push 90 to get a closer look at his badges on the trunk but i see a svt badge in the wrong place... WTF?!?! and it was crooked... WTF!?!?! and the reason why his car was so damn loud was that he had no exhaust on... at this point im laughing my ass off and my sister is sitting beside me wondering what the hell ive been smoking... We finally get to the toll plaza pay my two bucks and bounce... i let him get in front of me but then i hear him downshift... OH BOY HE WANTS TO RACE!! I didnt know what to expect cause im SHITOmatic w/ ecis intake and AA exhaust... he is a stick with no exhaust... back to the action... he down shifts and i pull right next to him, honked three times and gunned it. I had to roll up my window cuz his car was hurting my ears... what is this?!?! Great Scott Batman im inching away from his ass... this cant be. we shut down at 125 or so. i thought all was over but then i hear him pumping his gas pedal... Ding Ding Ding Round 2. He pulls up right next to me I honk three times and boom we both gun it.. the freeway starts straight but slightly turns to the left and goes uphill... we start off even and then again i slowly start inching away barely away from this guy we shut it down cuz it starts going uphill... gave him a thumbs up because i knew my exit was coming he wanted to run again but it was getting late and i wasted enough gas already so i decided to go home... i still dont know why i was inching away from this guy i thought mustangs would eat me alive but i guess a kill is a kill right guys? :buttrock

Another point for the 328's!
I'm laughing as I imagine his crooked SVT badge and your little sister in her tutu sticking her tongue out at him!

could have been a GT,a slightly modded 328is is quite fast, and would give a GT a run for its money. Especialyl higher end iive heard that GTs lose quite a bit of oomph higher end.

It's a world of difference between the current 4.6L and the old 4.6L.

the post 95 GTs were slow, and heavy, they no longer had the 5.0 engine, and were sluggish all around, supposedly the newer ones are becoming much quicker.

prolly a v6, good race
I agree. Against a slushomatic 328 a stick GT shouldn't have any problems. They weren't that heavy and slow. Of course, if he didn't have an exhaust perhaps he was missing spark plugs or something else important for performance.

I took an automatic GT up to 70 when we shut down. I had him by about a car length. I'm a stick, he was an Auto. It was a late 90's version with the 4.6 liter
I could see your automatic pulling away from an automatic GT. You would have absolutely NO problem taking out a V6 mustang.

Mid 90s Mustang V8 are about same as the E36 328 stick. Since the E36 328 is auto, the mustang should do better, but if not he's not shifting at redline or he's just a V6 mustang.

My friends dad had a '98 GT 5-speed, he keep it very clean and low low miles. Stock it was probably just as fast as my 328 5-speed. Although, after about a year of him owning it, he put sway, subframe connectors, intake, gears, short shift, pullies, and exhaust. That changed the story completely, that was a completely different car, it really came to life. I love BMW's but mods don't drastically change the performance like they do on those stangs.

Post 95'-Pre 99' GT's are pretty slow :az:
Ive had the pleasure of running a 95'+ GT (Auto 90% sure) on the highway and pulled several CL's up to 125MPH.
