Well I finally had a chance to race my other friend with a 330ci.

5/2/04
3AM
10-140MPH

Stock '95 M3 (5spd) vs. Dinan Modified '03 330ci (5spd, Dinan: Intake, chip, exhaust, and throttle body)

We lined up in 1st gear at 10MPH. He counted it down and we hit it. Right away I begin to pull away. By the end of first I have half a car. Shift into 2nd and pull about another half car. Shift to 3rd and the lead just increases; same with 4th and 5th gears. By 140MPH I have about a 3-4 carlength lead and we shut it down.

This is the second time I've beaten a car that I would have expected to stay right next to me. He also knows how to drive his car well so I can't say the win had anything to do with driver error. Hakjai was keeping watch behind us in his 330 and he can verify the results as well.

O well I'm very proud of my car! :buttrock
Hopefully I'll get a chance to dyno soon so I can post up the results. :)

140? on a 137mph limited car? and you shut it down... not the car. :redspot

It's called approximating. read my other kill stories newbie I always mention the 137 limit, just didn't feel it necessary again.

The speedo tends to be off by a few mph at that high of a speed. It might say 140MPH when he was actually knocking on 135MPH.

That is correct my speedo in fact reads 142mph when I feel the 137 limiter.

Nice to hear we still have an edge on the newer 3 series even if they do some basic mods.
....and lets not be so damn anal about the little details. So he shut it down at 136.481mph....that's not the point of the story.

Sounds about right, probably similar hp, but the M3 is lighter, more aggressive gearing, etc... nice kill!

You guys sure about that limiter? I don't have software, all of the rev limits in the lower gears are where they are supposed to be, but i hit an indicated 145mph the other day... :devillook

I was at the track last night and got my first set of times in the ZHP. I will post a little later in the Track Forum, and link it here for those interested... :devillook

Nice kill, I too wonder how much difference the ZHP would do.
