I make my one a week trip to target and this week I decided to take my M5. I was on the parkway when these cool light came charging up in the left lane. It came right up next to my car and stayed there. he looked at it for a few seconds and hammers it. I just follow him until traffic really clears up. When it cleared up he slowed down and I got right beside him. He hammered it and I quick put it in third and stared pulling in him hard. I hit fourth and just kept walking away. I quick got in the right lane for my exit and off I was. I thought it was over. I went a few miles on 37 and got on a jug handle. as I come off it there he is in the right lane at the light! I do not know how he did it. I got next to him and the light turned green. he took it easy for about two second in first and then hammered it again. I stomped it and just took off past him. We got to the next light and he said to me, "that thing sounds sick!" I said thanks and it is the stock exhaust! The light turned green and he took off. They are awsome looking cars.

Bonus kill:
On the way home there was these three guys in a brand new 330ci. When I got next to them on the parkway he stomped it. I caught third and off I went. The 330i was not as fast as the prowler. And as I went past the guy in the back seat game me the :buttrock. What a nice night out in NJ.

Prowlers look much faster then they are, and what performance they do have certainly doesn't justify the enormous price tag. I think they are comparable in price to an M5, but your old one smoked the hell out of him. Well done.

Nice Kill. What do those prowlers have under the hood?

Some of the prowlers are really fast I've seen them walk away from ZO6's. Nice Kill

stock prowlers come with 3.5 liter V6's...the same one in the 300M, LOL. Probobly a little more than 250 horsepower...but the things are pretty light though.

They're all bark. Nice Kill!

Last night I it said that this would not post because there was an error. so just now I reposted it. I left out the part of how I almost lost control on the exit ramp. The monitor will probable close or delete one. sorry about that.

Yeah, stock Prowlers run 0-60 in low 6's, high 5's at best and run low 14's in the 1/4 mile...

mitchelrl

that's also under the assumption that a competent driver is behind the wheel. No performance minded consumer would ever buy a Prowler. :nono

I always thought they were faster, and more expensive. $44,000 isn't nuts for a car with such an exotic appearance and image. Those numbers (Dave's) aren't too bad, comparable to an E36 M3. Did they handle pretty good or not?

Only available with an automatic, too...

Ahhhh, that makes the times sound a little better too considering the power/weight. Half-second behind me but more power and less weight. If I had a stable, I might save a stall for one of those (it wouldn't be stock).

all of the performance you could expect from a domestic car before it merged with a company that know's how to build cars.

I'm referring tot he Chrysler/Mercedes merger.

You're kidding, you were refering to that merger????[/Sarcasm]

You know they made the Viper right? Since when is the Viper not a performance car? But the Prowler should have had a V8, a V6 is just wrong for a retro hotrod.

They should start making them again so they could drop the 340hp Hemi in there.

Drive a Viper, then come talk to me. They are built around the engine, low luxury compared to my car, uncomfortable, the exhaust sounds like hell because they have 2 cylinders firing at the same time, They're a pain to get in and out of, The hood is a pain in the ass to open and close. The exhaust goes right under where you need to put your hands to get in and out and will burn the bejesus out of you if you touch it while trying to get out, They're the Ideal car for Horse Jockies because only men of that build could comfortably fit into this anti-ergonomic domestic eyesore of a car...And I'm just getting started...

They seem to share the same headlight assembly with the Dodge Intrepid, The center console position with the shifter is also misplaced, the hood release isn't in the cabin at all, it's under the fascia up front, you have to get on all 4's to reach it. The stereo blows, the air conditioning sucks, Stevie Wonder can see out of his blindspot better than you can in a viper, it has poor visibility all around. Not to mention it's virtually impossible to get brains while driving this thing unless gene simmons from Kiss is riding shotgun and you're into that sort of thing, oh and the handling is horrid

On the bright side, it can roast em through 3 gears!

Vipers are all engine, nothing else. At the end of the day, it's still a sub par domestic sports car.

Can you tell that I have some animosity towards daimler chrysler? =P

If I wanted luxury and comfort, I probably wouldn't get a viper. If you just hate American cars say it, no reason to come up with crappy excuses.

I don't hate American cars. I hate how most of them are made and how un-reliable they are.

When I see german cars, I see cars that are made with pride and with the customer obviously in mind. Cars that run, good as new 100,000 miles later. They don't need 10 year,100,000 mile warranties to move units off the lot. Their reputation speaks for itself.

When I see domestic cars, Ford, Dodge and Chevy. I see poorly constructed vehicles (I worked at a dodge dealership), that need a 70,000 miles warranty, just to move them off the lot. I also see them charge for what German cars come with standard. I see them falling apart at 40,000 miles.

Few cars in America are made with the pride and dedication to excellence that German cars are made with. Domestic auto's are finally catching on and shaping up, but they have a deep grave to dig themselves out of.

I love vintage american cars, but the late 70's was when domestic cars went down hill.

I got the M5 on ebay! Scarry. The car was vandalized bad. I need to have the car repainted. Howver, I am probably going to restore the car and do some more upgrades to it. I just painted the calipers blue. What do ya think? I was going to paint the rotor hats blue but that might be too much. I might just leave them alone or paint them gloss black. I think my little brother just got a 325 4dr that was done up a bit.

The car looks fine in the picture...Was it vandalized after that? The blue calipers look good BTW

Z Couper my friend owns one (so does "Paulie" from Orange County Choppers). My friend's is a silver 01 I believe, which is much better than the earlier years.. It has chrome 20s on the back and 18s on the front I believe. Maybe 17s? He did a "bumper delete" mod and it looks 110% better!

Point of my post: you say it would be cool to have a HEMI in it.. Well it would be, but literally, they tried, and coudlnt fit anything bigger than a V6 in a it. They barely have room to fit those in there.. working on them is frustrating! It wont happen unfortunately.

Eric, you are probably right. They could more room though. I just liked the look of the Prowlers, I love seeing them on the street. If they were silly fast, then it would be all the better.

HEY!, easy on the 325is. It can be fast, if modded correctly. Or if you have a FACTORY FREAK like mine. HAHAHA, I roast 330ci's. I love my car.

I put this guy ;) after it.:dunno All in good fun.

I generally get a little aggresive when I see a vehicle I respect being desparaged.

It is like me seeing a fart can car that I know is slow. It can be a stock automatic Saturn with a coffee can exhaust, it makes me want to chase it down and kill it. A completely stock Cherokee Classic being aggressive in traffic...I want to kill it. Driving a 328 and bagging a Viper, I have to pounce.

all good, I see what you were saying now(damn you beer, clouding my mind!!) Anywho, my point is the viper is surely a fast car, but I guess like Lambo(before VW bought them) are compared to Ferrari-Fast, but on a primitive level for the money.

I bet I could fit my s38 engine and trans in a Prowler. I have seen one where a guy worked the V6 a bit cand better heads exhaust and then put a supercharger on it. That car flew! Then can be (so can any car really) really fast. There was one at atco that ran 11.5 1/4.

Prowlers are the worst in my opinion; they are "custom hot-rods" that are all identical...whats the point? They are the ultimate poser-mobile.
