I wanted to know what everyone thought of this years bimmerfest. I was alittle bit dissapointed didnt see as many cars as I was expecting and not to much was happening. I want to know what you guys thought of it from past expierences with bimmerfest. I think it might of been the heat because it was so dam hot people were leaving alittle early.

It was my first time, and I must say that it wasnt bad at all...Alot of nice E46 M3's, and uh... lot of nice E46 M3's... One thing I found funny was that I didnt even see one 8 series. Overall, IMO, it wasnt that bad.

Also, note to myself: Never follow Blue E46's.

I went to Balboa caravan had to go fill up gas so i missed it. But started my own caravan. 2 E36 M3's and 2 E46 M3's where following me they were all suprised I was staying ahead of them with my 530 :D . I was disapointed didnt see to many E36 M3's, only 6 serise was that nice red M6 next to only Z8 in red, didnt see any 8's. It wasnt that bad could of been better. Need more girls and better music. Ill DJ next time

Lots of nice cars, but really nothing to do. I think the drive up was the best part, had to slow down after people started getting tickets though.

Bimmerfest is a great event, but honestly I was a bit bored. One of those things where you expect too much, but things hardly ever live up to expectations. I might consider going in the future, but no way am I going to wake up at 6:00 again.

Gugo, I think I was behind you when first pulled into the parking lot. I have a silver e60. I saw your friend take a pic of me in the car, maybe you could post it up.

Ya that was me :D he took a pic from my mirror of all Bimmers behind us. Ill post all my pics alittle later when I get them. It was on my cousins Sony camera and my comps a Dell he has to put it on a CD and give it to me. Did you guys see those 2 CHP cars behind some mountain on side of road, I was doing about 100+ my cousin saw them told me to brake if he didnt my lisence would of been bye bye. Ventura 100+ is 1 year lisence suspension. Got lucky no tickets nothing hopefully same for you guys, however I saw 2 E46 M3's pulled over :(

I saw two CHPs pull over a Dinan Z3 and I think an e46. Yea, you got lucky.

Ya we were haulin' ass up there....I thought it was great, I was pissed that I had to leave at 12. The M6, Dinan E28 M5, Estoril E39 540i, and the Hennarot E30 M3 were the highlights of the show for me. Did anyone else see that ugly ass Laguna Seca Blue M3 with the freakin' Boeing wing on the back? It looked like it was ready to take off!

It was my first Bimmerfest, and i had a pretty good time. I woke up too early to get there, so I was there at about 8:15 (I was staying at UCSB with a friend's friend, and we had to wake up before 7:30 so that my friend could move his car and not get a ticket...) In retrospect i woudl have rather woken up later, and shown up at bimmerfest around 10. There was a rediculous number of E46 M3's, and also a rediculous number of supercharger Bimmers. I think it woudl have been cool if there had been more demos and clinics and stuff, because i got rather desensitized to seeing amazing cars everywhere... this has been the only time that (by the end of the day) i could walk straight by a E46 M3 without a second glance. Another thing that woudl be cool is to separate the cars by what has been done to them... put all the show cars in one place, the blown cars in another, stocks in another.. All in all, it was awesome! Thanks to the Bimmerfest crew for putting on a great event!

my friend (tisilver e46 m3) and i left the Balboa caravan location 15 min early and ran into another mini caravan of a few E36s and one of the iForged sponsored E46 M3s (the steel gray cabrio). V1 went nuts on the 101 and i slowed down to see an EVO pulled over. we rolled by the cop going 65mph and he immediately radios ahead (caught this on my scanner) and says that there are 4+ modified BMWs northbound on the 101. sadly i got caught in the front of our little 65mph caravan and we ran into 2-3 cops waiting on the 101 for us, i suppose. no tickets, even though there were a few close calls (since some people didn't seem to understand why i was holding them back and insisted on trying to nudge me to the front, etc). all i all, the drive was great!

the event was a bit disappointing compared to the past years. food as priced exorbitantly! oh well. it was still worth it!

Wow, someone finally posted a pic of the E21's.... I was lucky enough to be able to hang out with those guys all day as i drove up a Euro E21 323 for a friend of mine... Robbie to answer your question, not many... There were a handful of E30 M3's and other assorted E30's... there was maybe 4 E28's... about 8-10 E21's... and just a few dueces... Overall though... i had a blast... My buddies E21 who was parked right next to me took the best classic BMW category... and IMO should have taken best of show... i don't think it would be to hard to get a new E46 to shine up all purty, but find me another 25 year old BMW that was as clean as CJ's 320, and i'll be pretty damn impressed...

You mean e46 M3's

But there were e30's...lots of those M3's too, lots of e21's and e28's actually. There were a variety in my opinion...but if it's a tie between e36 and e46 in terms of numbers

I don't know how many of you got to see the E28 Alpina B7 bi-turbo that drove in and hung for a few, then left. Holy crap that car was worth the drive up. The guy was from HB. Anyone seen that car before? He and his wife were up doing a wine tasting and just cruised by. That car is so rare in the US I just about freaked. A real treat, and it sounded mean. Would have been the best car at the show had he stayed more than 5 minutes. Hope you got to see it too.

///ME21: www.we-todd-did-racing.com its limited to 9mb.

I enjoyed it as far as the cars, it was my first time at a BMW meet and my first Bimmerfest. However entertainment wise there wasnt much to do. Spet most of the time walking around taking pics talking to people. Maybe next year they can have a $10 addmission that goes to lets say a good DJ, better food, more venders, more activites. Maybe we can have like a track to do some runs, maybe like a opstical circut with cones to drive around.

i think Jeremy was actually referring to the nature of the drives themselves (and the other drivers present) as opposed to your driving skills. from what i've seen on the DTM drives i've been on (only 2, admittedly), i'd not go again based on the fact that a lot of people on the drives don't seem to understand the concept of safe braking distance between cars and just try and go as fast as possible as much as possible without much regard to other drivers.

Oh sorry on my part I understood it the wrong way. Ya I know alot of idiots out there cant drive for shit. Like Tyler pointed out on the "Runing from cops" video he tried to drift and ended up falling in a ditch on side of the road. If you guys all feel like you dont want to attend the DTM canyon run Tyler (TSG///M3) and I might organize a fun and SAFE cannyon run on same day May 15, but only do it if more then 5 guys show up.

I thought this was the best Bimmerfest ever. Don't know if it had to do with being at the showgrounds or not, but it probably DID.

Anybody wanting more vendors and more entertainment doesn't seem to get it. Bimmerfest isn't a commercial production. It wasn't started so companies could sell their aftermarket (or OE in some cases) parts to people. It isn't about THEM providing things for us to do. It is about BMW lovers (owners or otherwise) coming together to hang out, look at some cars and have a good time enjoying each other's company.

It isn't a car show. It isn't a sound off. It isn't an autocross. But it ~IS~ about the people.

And don't get me started on the GCC's again Jeremy! I thought we covered this on Friday night at Carl's Jr? Anyway, as long as you know how to space yourself out from the OTHER drivers on those events (even if it means letting some @ss pass you so he isn't tailgating you), then you'll be fine.

Oh sorry on my part I understood it the wrong way. Ya I know alot of idiots out there cant drive for shit. Like Tyler pointed out on the "Runing from cops" video he tried to drift and ended up falling in a ditch on side of the road. If you guys all feel like you dont want to attend the DTM canyon run Tyler (TSG///M3) and I might organize a fun and SAFE cannyon run on same day May 15, but only do it if more then 5 guys show up.

did you read my post? How do you know he was trying to drift? To me it looks like he lost control, tried to correct himself and ended up overcorrecting, maybe lifted off the throttle too it might seem like. But it is quite obvious he wasn't trying to drift.

I wholeheartedly agree with Uberpanzer. Bimmerfest is about the people... hell its catch phrase is "bringing the bmw community together" I came with the intention of checking out the cars, talking about the cars, and hanging out with fellow enthusiasts who share the same passion. I don't need a fancy DJ or any of that stuff to have fun. The true enthusiasts could stand there and talk for hours about bmw's and not get bored. I never get bored of my car or cars in general. And, I agree, this is the best bimmerfest ever. I just hope it gets better and better. :redspot

Being my first BimmerFest i wanted to see the sights and hear the sounds at first, but after about 2 hours of walking around i just went back to the "Old car" section, over by the trees, and just hung out for the most part... I am glad that i was able to realize this, and from now on i'll know... I already can't wait till next year!!! It was great meeting so many of you!!! :alright

Cheers,

Finally someone that knows what their talking about!

THIS Bimmerfest shouldn't of even happened, 3 people took the bull by the horns and took control and made it happen, really in about 2 months, doing it from the East Coast for that matter! (well, 2 of them, Tim & Mark)
So for the people that have a complaint about it, DON'T GO NEXT YEAR!
I for one am happy "someone" kept the tradition going, was the food free, no, will it be next, no, it shouldn't be, hell, to "get in" was free, go to any other event and see how much it is to get in the gate.
Sorry, but it pisses me off when I see people complaining about petty things!
The guys that kept this thing going could just say screw it, then what, nothing!
So I give props to the organizers of this event and "please" keep up the great work, I KNOW it will be even better next year!

It was my frist bimmerfest too, and as in so many other topics, I'm going to post about something I have no qualifactions for....so don't take me too seriously.

First, I loved the fest, definetly going next year, and the year after that. I thought it was hot (temperature) the hot dogs were expensive, and there weren't enough vendors.
But that's not the way I'm looking at it. I'm looking at it: Entry was free, the weather was definetly better then rain and storm (especially for the drive), there was at least food available, and it's half the price of Disneyland chocolate bars. And I was suprised to see ANY vendors there.

My criticism for next time? Have extra vendors, because some people do want 'em, get more choices on food, who cares about the prices, pray for sunshine and good weather, and bring back the same good energy.

The only eseential part to bimmerfest is the last item really, everything else...is icing on the cake.

To the people who compalined: What have you done to remedy the problem? I personally wanted to see ACS and Racing Dynamics, along with UUC and some other big companies there. I already sent Mr. Shafer my letter, congratulating him on a successfull event, and asking him to become a spokesperson for the next one, trying to get more vendors there. But that's me....I can become very influential in a business sense with vendors....there's gotta be a reason for that tuition in business school. So maybe a little less talk and a little more action.

Bottom line, if you didn't like it, and you don't want to put out to change it, then as it was said before, don't go! If you liked it, I'm with you, if you want to change it, I'm sure your effort wont go unnoticed.

That's my two cents....remember, from the person without authority or knowledge.... ;)

Let me make it alittle clear guys, It was my first bimmerfest also like many of you. For the most part I loved it talking to guys, puting faces with names/cars, being surronded by so many Bimmers and never get tierd or sick of them. I guess I was disapointed about entertainment beacuse I had high expectations, I thought it would of been like HIN with alot of girls alot of venders. But I realize that HIN is setup by alot of people and Bimmerfest from what keith said about it being put out by 2 guys thats pretty dam sick, plus Bimmers are enough dont really need all those things. So guys dont get the wrong idea I really enjoyed Bimmerfest and im going out next year for sure. Just without my cousin and friend they complained all day about everything beacuse of them i missed the cruise.

I for one am not complaining about the lack of girls there  There'd best be no bitches on my hood!

I really liked this years bimmerfest. Last year I was one of the lucky few who was able to park on the lot, but for alot of my friends they had to park blocks away. This years venue was much larger, and I was able to see everyone's cars. Next year I will be sure to bring my own food and drinks, since I was broke and quickly became dehydrated and hungry. :(

Next year I'd like to see some more organization as far as models of cars. Someone mentioned it earlier, about possibly having an E36 section (other model sections too), with modded ones and stock ones. I think that would be really cool, for photo shoots and whatnot. I was kinda bummed that my car didn't get to be in any photo shoots with other cars of its kind.

I don't mind them charging for food, I would have been surprised if we got free food again this year. Personally the best part about bimmerfest was seeing all the people whom I never get to see anywhere else. I really had a fun time, and wasn't bored for even 5 min, even if I was tired from the heat.

Gugo i'll gladly give you the contact information of the guy who "couldnt drive for shit." I'm sure he would be happy to test his driving capabilites against yours. A busy guy he is, but i'm sure he could take time out of his schedule to have you teach him how to handle his car better.

As far as bimmerfest goes i didnt get to make it out to CA like i had planned but from what i heard from my friends and from the pictures my company took it looked like a blast. Definitely look out for our video which should be completed pretty soon.
