Since this came up in a thread on the e36 M3 board thought I would ask it here -
Does anyone know about tire weight? How much difference is there between tires, which are lightest - what are trade-offs

No one seems to advertise tire weight. It gives better advantage than light wheels. More inertia to overcome since its in the outside of the wheels.
This is what I know....
Light tires are: Pirelli Zeros Rosso for the street and the hoosier for the tracks......

Just picked up my 18" P-Zero "Rosso" tires and damn are those tires light. They are lighter than my 17" Bridgestone Re730 and Michelin MXX3's!

The guys at tire rack (doug) just told me that all tires are pretty much the same weight within a performance class.
I am not sure if this is true or not, I would just hate to spend a few thousand dollars on lightweight wheels just to make a bad tire choice and put all that weight back on...

I'd probably have to concur with the T.R. guys. The tires I'v had/felt were Pirelli P7000 SS, Yoko A520 and the stock Michelins all seem to weigh the same. I wish someone who works for a tire company would weigh some tires for us and post them.
