i talked to crutchfield about changing my head unit our for an aftermarket head unit. he said i needed a line converter and a wiring harness. is this correct? will it allow me to use the stock speakers and amp? i am putting subs in the car as well. any tips are welcomed thanks!

Holy Crap I found someone with the same car as I have. I am doing the exact same thing you are. It's a pain in the ass isn't it?! What you have written down sounds good except that if you just use a wiring harness from the HU to the orig. cables then you have to go through the built in fader making the awesome features of new HU's useless... I ran wires from the HU to where the amp is in the trunk and then plan to hook up those to the wires that were going to the speakers from the amp if I decide to bypass the stock amp but if I do decide to use the stock amp then I'll just use a line convertor and hook it to the input somehow... I'm a little confused on what I'm going to actually do, haha. Let me know how your install went or how the plans are coming if you haven't done anything yet. :buttrock
