Interesting Problem with Changers...

First I had the factory Alpine Changer on the all stock HK system. This would skip occasionally when I went over a bump. Annoying.

Pulled out the factory HU and Changer and replaced them with my Clarion Pro Audio HU (DRX6475) & Changer. Mounted the changer hoizontally to the trunk metal (checked the settings for the changer to ensure they were set for horizontal mounting) and now this changer skips when I hit a bump or drive fast. The Clarion changer has been sitting for 3 years unused, so maybe it is dusty and that is causing the skips. Anyone else have a suggestion?

is the changer loose? try shoving something in there to stiffen it up

Nope, the changer is very solidly mounted to the car.

That is your problem. The vibrations traveling through your chassis gets transmitted directly to your CDC.

I solved the problem by installing 3 pieces of 1/2" thick closed cell foam in between the CDC and the sheet metal. Instead of using longer screws to attach the CDC, I used bungee cords under tension to hold the CDC in place. The idea was to totally isolate the CDC from direct vibration. It takes a little time to get it hooked up right, but the absence of skipping is a real godsend!

Interesting thought. I am starting the build on my amp rack. I am sure I can rig some sort of isolated housing for the changer. I will give it a try. Thanks.

mine skipped, there were two levers which must point to either vertical or horizontal depending on which way you have it mounted
