Yep, I'll be there, should be fun. I've been to the track and museum but have not yet had a chance to drive it.

Great! there are at least two other board members that I know of who will be there...I've never been to one and I'm really stoked to get out there and drive my car.

Will you be in the yellow M3?

It all depends on whether or not I purchase an '88 924S this weekend. If I buy, that's will be my new track car. Not nearly as fast as the M but if I put it into the wall I won't be hurt (money wise) as much.

I did a DE at RA a month or so ago and realized that my driving ability is far below the ability of the M3. Although I pushed in on the straights, my cornering left a lot to be desired. Thus, I don't think that I need 333 bhp for the track, half of that should be plenty and that little P-car may be perfect. Plus, I've always wanted a Porsche :stickoutt

Hey Tim - can I drive the P-car if you get it too? heh heh heh.

I can be "co-driver" heh heh. for the enduro races and such.

And Yepper - I'll be at the DE in July as well. But probably with the M6 only and no other car.. so I'll just have to keep her off the wall-

I think fewer horses will be a good thing for me too! The 328 is my daily driver and I think I can get into enough trouble with 200hp --at least the first time around :)

Given that I live only 5 miles from the track, we might just have to consider a party at my place on Saturday night :redspot

Roadtrip to MO starts at 1pm today. Hopefully the new p-car will be in my driveway by Saturday evening :alright

Bathtub!!!

Let us know about the P-car too...Hey, in my cycling groups whenever we have a party we do what's known as a 'naked crit' --do the motorsports folks do something similar? :devillook

Just about to head out the door.

John - I do have a motorcycle race on Sunday, it's a busy weekend.

BabyM - please explain naked-crit. And by the way, I'm also an obesity researcher (I caught that in one of your other posts), so watch out what you say, I know a lot of people at the Pennington ;)

Yes - you must explain "naked - Crit"

Hell of a weekend Lemming - see you when you get back -

BabyM
04-23-2004, 03:40 PM
oops! Hopefully you don't know anyone who has authority over me :)

Naked Crit= Drunken riding of bicycles around the block in a loosely organized race. Nude.

Crit is short for Criterium --a sort of legitimate bicycle race ridden around a few city block at a high pace.

Both are fun :)

Bicycle seat and my naked butt = painful.

Watching others participate = Much laughter by me

You will respect my authoritI !

I was actually thinking 'Cartman' when I wrote that!

Oh, and since it's bad form to mix drinks and driving...maybe a quick jaunt to the local Celebration Station go-kart track would get us in the proper mindset? :buttrock

I'm back with my new toy and all that I can say is that I got a great deal. I'm almost afraid to strip this car for a racer, it should really be a restoration project; it's in that good of condition.

Naked Crit - racing Tim's bored out XR50 around my back yard, now that's fun. I've done it drunk many times, but never showing butt.

Pennington is full of authoratative individuals and I know many. Don't worry, what I do and see away from work doesn't go back (sort of like Las Vegas :nono ). Additionally, if you knew the work assignment that I cancelled to be able to attend this DE, you wouldn't worry :eyecrazy:

I like you already!

Congrats on the purchase! I think it can't help but sting a little bit when you start to strip a perfectly nice streetcar. Maybe you could restore the P car and step up to the hp in the M3 as your track car? :stickoutt

So, I think you added Mr. Lemming to your avatar since your last post...what flavor is he and of course, what is the connection to lemmings --not exactly a common beastie in Alabama?

Very cool about the P-car Tim -

Can't wait to see it.

Yesterday - leaving sharkfest - (which by the way was awesome-) I'll do a write up later on one of the boards.

GF and I are talking to manager of the B & B where we stayed.

she says " know anyone that wants to buy an 89 325i"

Long story short, Her son has a red on black 325i 5spd sedan that's been sitting for 6 months cause he can't figure out why no fire is getting to the plugs. :dunno:

$600 later and it's mine- got to go get it this weekend. KNow anyone with a truck that has a trailer hitch?

and it'll be my DD for a while to take some of the mileage pressure off of the M6; and it'll start doubling as a club racer in about a year.

:redspot :buttrock

John,

Congrats on the E30, that's the other car that I was looking at but could not find the right one. I have a hitch on my Exploder but I'm not sure that the SUV will do real well pulling that much weight.

E30 325i vs 924S :alright

Good Looking 924 Tim -

The 325 I've purchased is cinnabar (well - zinnaberrot) red. so they could make a good match running the barber track together ..

if the 325 is running well enough by then- Not running I kind of rolled the dice on her. but the body and interior are in good enough shape that i figure i could part it for 600 if the engine is toast for some strange reason..

interior is almost perfect..

i mean perfect.

I had a blast in my M3 at Road Atlanta; 135 mph down the backstraight and then hard on the brakes for turn 10a :eyecrazy: However, I was also scared to death that I was going to crash her into the wall, hence the purchase of the 924S. I know that I'm going to miss the acceleration of the M3 out of the turns :(

I'll be there (I've registered). My first event at Barber, all of my experience is at Road Atlanta so I'm looking forward to a new track and new challenges. See you guys there...

I move to Birmingham this weekend, May8th, not sure if I will drive in the school since I need to get a helmet but I will either volunteer if they need anyone or just come by Saturday to meet people since I'm new.
I've had a couple P-cars over the years, turbo and non-turbo, they are all fun at the track.

BabyM
05-03-2004, 08:10 PM
ahhh! Don't let lack of a helmet keep you from palying! If they don't have loaners we might be able to share mine. I'm not sure how they run the sessions but i bet we could arrange it so While I'm not driving you could use my hemet. (I have a medium G-force FF)

madsedan,

I'm pretty sure that I have a few Snell 95 motoX helmets lying around the house if you want to use one. Of course fitment might be an issue, I have a huge cranium :eyecrazy:

Thats cool Lemming, I have a big head as well. Let me know how much you'd take for one of your helmets you dislike the most and I'll just buy it, clean it up and make it my own with an airbrush of a naked lady sitting in a martini glass.

Would that be a 'dirty' martini? :stickoutt

Probably, I'm trying to fit back in the south, I've been a transplanted southerner for a little over 8 years now.
It'll either be that or a naked woman in the back of a 4x4 truck mudding in the swamp.
