my mother is looking for an SUV for a lease, I'm trying to get her into one of these.

what's your honest opinion on the car so far?

I love it!

Honest opinion is that the interior is definitely not up to par with what I'm used to from BMW. But their excuse is that the added plastic makes the car more rugged and resistant to damage from ski tips and bike pedals etc.

Interior materials aside however, the car is awesome. I drove it up to Lake Tahoe when I first got it, and it was an absolute joy to drive on freeways. Hugs turns like the 325xi that I had as a loaner.

I can't wait to push her, after I hit 1200miles. :D

The more I see this car, the more I like it; and the more I think about it, the more I want one :) So thanks for the photos, they're eye candy for a perpetual car shopper. Althought I tried the link again just now, but it doesn't work, fyi.

Link not working, please fix it. I need to see some nice pictures of the X3 to change my current opinion of it.

Hey, I just wanted to tell you that the German dealer where I bought my X-3 told me 2,000 miles and not over 100 mph for break-in. Where did you hear 1,200? Just wondering not judging.

Could it be 2000 Km. I was told during european delivery by the BMW folks that the break in period was 2000 km which is about 1200 miles. This was for a 325ci. The engine was the same so the break in period should be the same. They told me to keep it under 4000 RPM and vary my RPM every 10 minutes of driving.

I think the owner's book says 500 miles. For me I used the 1200 mile rule as I did with my M3. My wife now has 3000 miles on her 3.0. With the sport package I am craving for a trip to the autobahn!!!

Yeah! You know....10 minutes after posting that I called my dealer and she corrected herself. It is acutally 1200miles. I was very happy to hear this because I left on Saturday morning for a road trip to Interlaken, Switzerland. God it was gorgeous. I plan to post pictures of the X-3 in action in the Swiss Alps but I'm not sure how to do it on this website yet. Everytime I click the insert image button it just inserts the words...[img]. It's driving me nuts. I'm dying to post pics of the X-3 on here. It belongs to my wife actually, I drive the '02 325i. I'm reluctant to do mods since I want a '04 330Ci anyway. We are thinking of moving to Stuttgart next summer. Anyway, the Autobahn ride was perfect. I was limited to 100mph the whole trip. I broke 1200 miles about 30k's short of Wurzburg and pushed her on up to 130mph. It purred right along no problem. I love passing Audi's like they're just poking along. I do it all the time in my 325. Well, I'm glad to meet some other X-3 owners. We'll keep in touch here on the site. Take care guys got to get ready for work tomorrow.

between the img brackets - type in the complete URL of the picture. for example:

[*img]http://insert your pic here[/*img]

remove the * to get it to work. :)
