The other day I was researching random old buildings in Atlanta. Came across a bunch of pictures from the turn of the century. It was pretty cool knowing that Atlanta had some buildings at the time that rivaled those of NYC.

Ahhhhh, the good ole days of the Talented And Gifted program. :) I hated that program, just a way to make me do more work than the minimum required.

I knew chicago pretty well and still do but I didnt know too much about Atlanta so I thought you guys might like that.
Jimmy - I've also learned more than I wanted to know since coming to tech's college of architorture. Watch:

b17a - other than the buildings. Atlanta seemed to have based itself of other cities. For example it copied boston in naming the streets after trees one way and number the intersecting way. For example, I live off 10th and Hemphill.

I hear they are going to change the names of all the roads in Atlanta to honor famous black leaders. There has been some opposition, but a compromise has been reached. For example: Peachtree-Jackson Rd.

Actually my great aunt's house he spared. It is now part of the Marietta Conference center...the city nearly forced her to sell it due to the "historical value" It was used as a hospital in the civil war for the northern troops as they came in.

Sherman refrained from burning it because my great great great uncle went to west point with him and they were friends.

Plus a lot of the land North buckhead was owned by my grand father. The street names in between Wieuca and roswell rd are named after my family. Pretty cool huh
