View Full Version : quite a few of you have euro bumpers!
MR 325 04-13-2004, 07:57 PM how common are those things ? i might buy a e21 but the rear euro bumper is wrecked (sobb) but how hard would it be to replace that ? I might just take the whole thing off and just bondo up the tacky holes. any who the e21 im looking at also has a set of rear disc conversion lined up, i cant buy the car with them i would have to pay ontop of what im going to pay for the car (1000) with turbo and euro bumper. not installed but ready to be. any who! what do you think on the rear disc conversion schould i not pass them up due to how hard or rare it would be to find them again! rear disc would look dead sexy behind my BBS's :) just want some opinions on this, and since i did wreck my 318is i have an m42 laying around so eventually i might pop that in there, not easy but possible. Also do e30 seats bolt or atleast fit in there i have some sport seats that would be nice for it! thanks alot and if i get the car ill get some pics and let you know whats up.
Ohh yea the condition on those rear disc's are prety bad, lots of surface rust and they have been in someones back yard for quite a while, they would defintly need wheel bearings and bushings. thanks guys and incase you didnt know im a e30 guy but i love the old schools! see ya and you guys have some HARD e21s cruzin around! :buttrock
MR 325 04-13-2004, 07:58 PM forgot to sign mr325 out. where friends and im on his computer at work. hence that mix up
AdotOdot4 04-13-2004, 08:21 PM I don't have or know much about the euro bumpers, but was wondering if the E21 was euro or previous owner replaced the diving boards with euros. Post some more info on the car (and pics if you can), and I'm sure you will get some helpful responses. Good luck with you choice.

MattE21 04-13-2004, 08:41 PM euro's are hard to come by for a good price.. (hence why i dont ahve them and am very pissed about that too.)
RDAvena 04-13-2004, 09:40 PM they were stock on my car :devillook
MattE21 04-13-2004, 10:59 PM they were stock on my car :devillook
Some of us just weren't that fortunate :(
Tree25is 04-13-2004, 11:39 PM are they rare ? the rear disc conversion, from what i understand its a 323 thing. any who the car is a 73 and it has diving boards but the guy i want to buy it from has euros for it. the front one is game but the back one is all screwed up. How ever im not scared to run no bumpers :D I think it looks allright the one concern of mine is that the car is a four speed. is this better than a five speed ? does the engine have enough power for it ? my friend had his five speed all swaped in and then when he went to go put the drive shaft in he had lost it in his yard somewhere! odd i think yes!!!!!!!!! but w/e if im going to turbo the car it would defintly have to be out of boost on the freeway. hence my thoughts for a five speed swap soon. ill get him to take some pics and ill put them up on my cardomain thing. but thanks for the input and keep on keepin on ! tanlarue.net :redspot
TheNeek 04-14-2004, 12:11 AM Rear disc conversions are a little rare around these parts. First off you have to find a 323i, not an easy task. Then you have to find a wrecked 323i, even harder. They pop up from time to time, but if you can afford it, I'd recommend the purchase.
Not sure about the car being a 73. That would be a 2002 if it was made in 73. E21's range from 77 to 83.
I have euro bumpers, custom fabbed bracketry. It fits well, but needs some tweaking. I also have an M42 in my car with the e30 318is 5 speed. (Small world eh?).
Five speeds are more desireable than the 4's. Your car, if it is a early model (77-79) will be a 2 liter, while the later models were 1.8.
Check out my site if you want to see the M42 and the euro bumpers and stuff. Good luck with the car, buy it if you can, E21's are fun.
Tree25is 04-14-2004, 12:46 AM yea 73 i dont know what i was thikning. but yea m42 would be nice but i might sell the tranny to uberpanzer so well see how that goes, but if i buy the car it comes with a turbo kit for an m10 so i will definltly do that for a little while!
Tree25is 04-14-2004, 01:03 AM omg that car is nice! one to never part with! anywho your my new friend K ? if i buy this e21 yours is my inspration!
BoostedE21 04-14-2004, 01:26 AM Euro bumpers are hard ot come by. I got some but needed alot of work! I say work with what u got. Post pics!
MattE21 04-14-2004, 01:50 AM omg that car is nice! one to never part with! anywho your my new friend K ? if i buy this e21 yours is my inspration!
who was that comment directed towards? :shifty
eurospec1 04-14-2004, 01:51 AM Hey tree
Dont know if you know me, but ive been on the roadfly e30 boards for about 2 years now, anyways. If you can get the rear discs get them, i live in europe, and those darn things are hard to find here! took me 6 months to find a set. as for the bumpers, the eruo defenetily look way better! Good luck man and post some pics!
yeah, euro bumpers=dead sexy e21 :D
i got reallllllllly lucky finding my euro bumpers in the condition they were in & how much i paid for 'em (got it used with only a few very minor dents & decent chrome finish)

get the rear disc's setup or give them to me :D . also, if u still have ur rear discs on ur 325e parts car, u can fit those rear e30 rear discs & calipers on to e21's w/ rear disc brakes with some modification. the main benefit being that the pads, rotors & caliper rebuilds for e30 rear brakes are more available than the e21 rear brakes. and i'm pretty sure the e30 rear discs are bigger too.
be sure the motor is in pretty good shape before slapping on that turbo....or else a rebuild might be in order.
btw, are you gonna be out at bimmerfest in a few weeks? looks like there's going to be at least 9 e21's out there this year. hehehe, bring the e21 if u decide to get it.
RDAvena 04-14-2004, 11:35 AM what ever became of the AZ posse that was going to recover KenG's rear disc set up? Did that snot nosed thief just keep them?
i'm still working on it........i think i've made at least 5 attempts & only taken 3 trips out to his house so far (each time getting one tiny step closer....each time trying to restrain my normal, reserve self from going off on the guy, who, btw, doesn't even return my freakin calls, isn't home when he SAID he would be, and when he does respond to me, he makes his freaking roommate talk to me).
hopefully i'll at least get some of the parts maybe this weekend or by next weekend......if that fails, then covert op xt9.564d is still a possiblity, lol. but yeah, i'll probably just end up bringing those parts (unless i decide to buy them from ken :D ) w/ me to bimmerfest in a few weeks since ken will be there too.
uberpanzer 04-16-2004, 01:13 AM Get the discs if you can!!!! If not for you, then for me (eventhough jbob already called them...).
Euro stuff is getting harder and harder to find for these cars here in SoCal, esp off of 'parts cars'. There is a prospect of one down here at Autobahn....unless the owner of the place decides to do what he's threatening to do....swap out the 2.3L M20 for a 2.5L M20 from an e30. The car is straight, fairly rust free (from what I could see), but has black non-sport interior.
Anyway, I don't know if you actually got this car, since I've been offline since the begining of the month. If so, great. You'll see why I like THESE cars too. Not quite as cool as that 510 that shows up to the GCC stuff, but he's also got a LOT of work into his car. I'm hoping to have my car looking and sounding as nice as his (and most of the other people on HERE) before too long.
M42....If you plan on doing this swap down the road, we might be able to work something out anyway about trannies. It IS possible that my tranny 'issues' are simple and that I might NOT need another tranny, but we won't be able to figure that out until after it is already off. The point of this is, that I might be able to get YOUR tranny (or mine, whatever) back to you in the not-too-distant future. You will need this to do the M42 swap, so that would be good. And then your e21 would be one step closer to Nic's car.....
TheNeek 04-16-2004, 04:49 AM And then your e21 would be one step closer to Nic's car.....
I'm hoping to raise the bar just a tid bit after I graduate (fall of 04). If all goes well, I might turn some heads at bimmerfest '05.
