View Full Version : it's been anything but a good Friday for me. I got laid off today and >>>
PhillySean 04-09-2004, 05:42 PM first order of things is that my E38 must go. As much as it hurts to even type this,. my car payment is the 2nd biggest expense I have right now and I need to cut down dramatically. i guess I won't be enjoying my 16x9 or the MKIV for very long.
Please pass the word around if you don't mind about my car for sale and IF you know anyone hiring a decent paying job. I can do almost anything; if it requires some training, then I'll do that as well. I'm also able to relocate if it comes to that.
I appreciate any help you guys can provide to a fellow E38er(but not for too long) :(
Sean :help
FlyingHigh 04-09-2004, 06:15 PM Wow - sorry to hear that Sean. On the positive side, I have seen a steady increase in hiring, so your search shouldn't take that long.

I'll pass your resume around.. dont feel bad bro, the job market is getting a lot better. Quickly.
John Spatola 04-09-2004, 11:17 PM Sean-Sorry to hear about your recent job loss. Your sharp practicality shows in your willingness to part with something that you love. Your resume is outstanding. I don't know if you are in an area that is "construction rich", but here in Sacramento, California, the real estate building industry nevers seems to be flat. I have made a great living for almost 30 years. You said that you will travel. Give some thought to the type of lifestyle that you are seeking, and give the hot building markets a good look. Best, John.
FlyingHigh 04-10-2004, 10:52 AM here in Sacramento, California, the real estate building industry nevers seems to be flat.
I agree, John - in my business (high end functional art), the money on the West Coast is in California. Things are still red hot both North and South. Phil: hop in that E38 and drive West, young man. (sorry, I couldn't resist).
I'm sure you are reading all the construction/architecture "rags" - these are the best source of job leads. Networking on this forum is fine, but your best bet is to network with folks in the industry you are targeting. Get on the phone. All the jobs that I didn't make for myself I found by talking to anyone and everyone I knew in the industry I was in.
One final comment - I hate to say it, but dumping all the extra toys during a situation like this is the right thing to do so you don't end up settling for the wrong job just to make a payment. Many moons ago I decided that I had to let all my toys go and get out of debt. I never bought another depreciating asset on credit again. This was the only way I could build wealth for the long run and it worked. I drove a piece of crap for several years, but slowly built up enough cash to buy what I wanted. It makes you think a lot harder when you are spending cash on a car or any other "toy" than financing it. Heck, this is why I bought an E38 in the first place - a $60k car for $20k? What a deal!
Good luck and find your next job. It always works out that the next chapter is an even better one.
