You may remember my post from a few weeks ago, got nailed by 'the man' at the bottom of an on ramp. 82/65. I was all set to call it in and pay when I noticed he also cited me for an 'obscured rear license plate’ and an additional $98.00. I’d post pics, but let’s just say it was bull-shit. Well, I was pissed and decided to seek justice. It’s the priciple.

Bought the clear plastic cover at the Ohio BMV. Took pics of several views of the rear plate on the car…close up, far away, many angles – no ‘obscured view’. Also took pics of the cover hanging on the wall ‘for sale’ at the BMV. Headed to court.

RESULT: rear license plate charge dropped and speeding ticket pleaded to a ‘no-points’ speeding (69/64). $35.00 fine, down from $300.00. All in all ONE FOR THE GOOD GUYS! :redspot

Sweet! ...now I have to figure out how to get out of a 49 in a 30... :bawl: I'm hiring an attorney on this one, but figure I still only have a 50/50 shot.

Yeah - in the infamous Bellevue Way speed trap... I normally slow down through there, but it was night, I was in the 02 with very little lighting in the dash (no, really, you ever driven a vintage 02?), and I just wasn't thinking... My wife even agreed that the police officer was a B!tch (her word, but appropriate). I was thinking of telling her that I had just passed level 1 in the BMW performance driving school so that speed in my car with me at the wheel was really OK, but I decided this might not help my cause... :D

Werd!
I find it very hard to accept that a fellow E38 enthusiast would   exceed   the posted speed limit
The cop was jealous.

Well done beating the rap!
Speeding tickets should only be issued to cars that impede the forward travel of BMWs...especially fools in the left lane that hold us below 100!

Bellevue Way indeed. That's probably the city's second highest source of revenue, after property taxes...

Good choice on not mentioning your Level 1 sign-off - few points to be scored there.
