ehdz4 04-09-2004, 01:27 PM Is this a good/fair deal...haven't signed anything yet, but I did get hooked on a deposit for $1000.
$52,520 out the door not a penny more.
-Z4 3.0
-performance
-sport
-convenience
-heat seats
-xenon
-sterling grey
-and 6 month/100k warranty included too.
what do you guys think?
SomeBMWGuy 04-09-2004, 01:32 PM Well, if that was a 6 year and not 6 month warranty it's not bad. Z4's are really fun cars to drive. They stick like glue, accelerate and brake well, and are just plain cool. Best is winding out 3rd gear on the highway. Sounds sooooo good.
ehdz4 04-09-2004, 01:47 PM sorry I meant to put 6 year warranty, duh, my mistake
lorenzocal 04-09-2004, 02:44 PM I bought mine last July, so it was an '03 model. I know they added a couple of features to be standard (steering wheel radio controls and, I believe, the rain sensing wipers. Don't remember anything else.) They bumped up the list price a few hundred bucks. Having said that, here's what I got in mine:
Z4 3.0, Xenon, Sport, heated seats, power top, 6-speed manual
Mine was $45,270 with tax, license etc...
So, don't really know if what you're getting beyond that is worth another $7K.
On the extended warranty, I've always heard it's better to go outside the dealer as they are just reselling some insurance company's package and adding their cut. I went through my insurance broker and got an 8yr/100K extended warranty policy that cost about $800.
Ridgeway 04-09-2004, 03:21 PM sounds nice, but wow that seems like alot of $ for a z4, though they are great cars that just seems high(but it would appear you are getting pretty much every option...)
TeamZ4 04-09-2004, 08:05 PM $52,520?!?!? I think you swallowed it hook, line, and sinker

ehdz4 04-14-2004, 07:26 PM let me put it this way...
what would you pay total with tax for this kind of car with all the options I listed in my first post?...I mean the taxes alone for an MSRP of $47,220 is around $3500 and to get an extended warranty is around $2000-$2500 at some of these dealers...ohh and don't forget all the smaller charges for license, etc. Are most of you Z4 owners satisfied with a 4yr/50k warranty. Have any dealers out there gone below $2000 or more off of an MSRP for these kind of options? Maybe they would, but you would really have to bargain the hell out of them to go that far if possible, especially if it is still a new 2004. But then again 2005 is around the corner...but I did get them down to $50,000 even...but it isn't over yet.

Umm...no and no. Whomever you heard this from is COMPLETELY wrong. BMW decide to CPO every 2003 Z4 to add value to the vehicle. It's a warranty directly from BMW, not an aftermarket warranty company's. Any dealer in the country will honor it, no questions asked.
Do a search on "aftermarket warranty," and see what negative comments come up.

I heard something about this but that it wasn't offered until late '03 (August or September on...?) to boost the sales at model year end. It wasn't available when I bought the car, at least from the three dealers I spoke with, they all were offering extended warranties through third party companies.
Okay guys, being the proud new owner of a Z4 I must chime in here. Mine was a late model '03 (Aug to be exact) and it did indeed come with the CPO coverage on it. It was on all four '03 Z4s that were still on the showroom floor at the time. My dealer tried to pass it over me that his dealership was doing this for me but I knew better than to believe him on this. :devillook Not matter as it still made the deal on my car even that much better.
Oh, back to the actual topic starting this thread, I would have to say that is a bit high of a quote for that car, is it brand new??
Here's what I got on my deal:
-Z4 3.0
-Premium
-Sport
-Sonvenience
-Heated seats
-Xenon lights
-6 Spd manual
-Merlot Red w/Beige Interior & Top
-and the aforementioned 6 month/100k CPO warrany as well.
-The car had 10k miles on it, driven by the owner of the dealership. :az:
What do you guys think of that?
Final price out the door, $36,975....everything (Tax, title, etc..)
TeamZ4 04-15-2004, 03:37 AM it's ok I guess, you may have been able to find a private-market used one for less but then you wouldn't get the extended warranty :dunno
SilverStreak 04-15-2004, 09:01 AM Dealers out here are knocking $7500 off the MSRP....
count_schemula 04-15-2004, 04:10 PM $52K+ seems really high. Really high, especially when you factor in the likely depreciation in the first 2 years..
You could get a nice M Coupe and a nice M Roadster for that money. Not to interject Z3ness into this, just an observation on $52k.
Merely my opinion.
Dirty Grill 04-20-2004, 03:23 PM Dealers out here are knocking $7500 off the MSRP....
No one will knock that much off of MSRP. First of all, profit in a Z4 is only about 9%. This gives the dealers a total profit margin of $3500-$4500 depending on the equipment of the 3.0. Now, for the sake of arguement let's say that the dealership wants to dig into holdback in order to move the bucket. Even at 3% the most it's going to add is $1500. This leaves the largest possible discount at $5000, and only if a dealership is willing to take a bath on a fully loaded Z4 3.0... unlikely...
As far as extended warranties are concerned, you really have to be careful.
lorenzocal- I can assure you that the warrenty you purchased is as close to a 50/50 warranty as you can get. It is most likely an exclusionary policy with a nice deductible. The reason dealerships sell warranties from companies other than the manufacturer is that they are a lot cheaper. They sell them to you at the same price and make a higher margin. It's tough to get really screwed on a BMW warrenty because finance companies cap the amount dealerships are able to charge for them. Unless the aftermarket is from an extremely reputable company (UAC for instance) then there is no point in even considering it over the manufacters offering.
EdV- $2000 off is a pretty good deal, you may be able to get someone at 2.5-3k, but it will take some shopping on your part.
TeamZ4 04-22-2004, 03:27 AM assuming there aren't any incentives, I heard they were extended through April
IMO anybody that pays $52k for a Z4 is nutz even if it is fully optioned

I would totatlly agree with that....way too much for a Z4. You can get them in the mid to low 40s pretty easy out here and cheaper if you're willing to look around like I did. :stickoutt If you are willing to pay that money you might as well wait until the Z4M comes out, but let's not even start that debate...

A Z4 6spd w/ Premium, Sport, Convenience, Heated Seats and Xenons MSRPs for $47,220. I think everyone is forgetting about FEES, this is how they would break down in Arizona.
$47,220 - Selling Price
$3,824.82 - Sales Tax at 8.1%
$349 - Doc Fee (usually between 299 and 399)
$781.62 - Lieu Tax (1 yr. reg. is 1.68% of MSRP-695 destination)
$30.00 - Misc. fees including tire tax, aqc fees, reg fee, title fee and postage
Total = $52,205.44 not including the extended service contract which would be about 2500-3500 depending on the coverages (industry standard is 8-10% of MSRP). So assuming fees are the same, then ehdz4 is getting a fair deal.
BimmerDawg 04-22-2004, 09:45 PM No one will knock that much off of MSRP.
Actually, you're wrong.
Currently there are no incentives.
Wrong again.
If you're going to talk as if you know exactly what's going on, at least get your story straight. There is an unadvertised amount of money back on Z4's. Besides, Dave was probably speaking of remaining 2003's. I sold our last '03 3.0i model for $8,500 off of MSRP earlier this year.
So, if anyone's interested in getting a heckuva deal on a Z4, lemme know.
mattjw916 04-23-2004, 02:47 AM are you sure the "vehicle sales tax" is 8.1... it is usually not the same as the state sales tax, 8.1 is insane... it is 3% in NM!!!
That is a crazy high price... buy a used one, CPO'd if you like long warranties... third party/aftermarket warranties are for suckers.
Sheesh, I only payed $35k for my 02 M Roadster (used), which IMO is a LOT more car for the money. But hey, buy what you like because you have to drive it.

I assume you're speaking of trunk money (dealer cash). Granted '03 Z4 3.0's had 5k in the trunk, but we're talking about an '04. To the best of my knowledge the '04's have 1500 in the trunk, but it still doesn't equate to 8500 off. Anyway, the price is going to vary by market and the southwest happens to be very strong for Z4s.
I've got to ask... do you always drop your shorts on the first pencil? ;)

Sales tax is comprised of State, county, and city tax. You pay the same percentage on a car you purchase from a dealership as you would on a TV from an electronic store. Out here it just happens to be anywhere from 7.7-8.1% depending on the zip code.

I was just correcting you. You said there was no incentives on 2004 Z4s, and you were wrong.
I assumed most people knew this, so I'm not going to try and hide the fact. I give "nice" discounts on Z4s, and pay to advertise here...so I'm trying to get some potential customers. I'm not trying to hide anything from anyone. That's not how I do business.

Just teasing you, I actually think it's pretty decent of you to give aggresive discounting on premium cars.
So, with the trunk money and dependent on the tax rate, it's looking as though 50-51k OTD is the money on that car.

that is not true in Texas and New Mexico, that is why I asked... we don't have a sales tax, but our gross receipt tax is between 5-7.18%, when you buy a new car it is 3.5% and for used ones it is 3%. Paying 8% or more on a vehicle in taxes is just crazy... damn Democrats at work again..

It does differ by states, although I fail to see how you can blame Democrats when Arizona is historically a right-wing state...

BimmerDawg - Getting a little OT. Is where you're at also a Mini dealer? Wife and I are looking at getting a car for my older daughter as a grad present/off to college car. One we were looking at is the Mini. Are these things really so hot that dealers are getting $2500 - $3000 "market adjustment" premiums?

Nope, no Mini's here. Athens is a smallish town, and BMW didn't see the market for it.

We have one Mini dealership in AZ, and they sell all their new Minis for sticker (although it's a 6-7 month wait). The only reason they don't mark them up is because they're owned by UAG (policy says they don't mark up). The used ones go for stupid money though...

How about paying 15% for taxes here in Canada?? :)

How about Europe in general... You think two bucks a gallon is bad, they've been paying more per liter for ages.
